Easy cabinet mod for more storage

I'm sure someone's thought of this before, but here it is. The overhead kitchen cabinets in my MiniLite 2109s are pretty tall, and ended up in a jumble of pots, pans, plates, etc.

To reduce the clutter I made 2 simple self standing shelves. Now there's an upper and lower level for storage. Only slight problem is now I have to come up with a stool for my wife to reach the upper shelves

Scrap lumber and plywood, about an hour of time. Click image for larger version

Good Job!
I've been wanting to do the same. Seeing yours I think I'll get started!

Try a folding stool. This one has a 300lb capacity and folds completely flat. We have one for the truck and one for the Roo.

And the one we have in the camper is a "mini". DW loves it!

My DH did that in our 5th Wheel the minute we brought it home from the Dealer. All the cupboards are a huge empty space, so he built those same shelves you did, a BLESSING!!! We never had a designated pantry, so he took the "coat closet", (which is in the kitchen) built shelves, and that is my Pantry!!

DW added some expandable wire shelves in our over the sink/stove cabinets. She added some wire shelves in the pantry. She got some clear plastic to organize stuff in the pantry.

You could just get a taller wife, but I don't recommend it...

I'm afraid that might be a bit more expensive than a new stool

Smile I can't resist! It's too much of a temptation.

Not sure you will want to emphasis to the DW that the weight limit is 300#!

Very nice, I've made nearly identical half-height shelves for our last two trailers. One other quick idea / tip, get a length of 1/2" quarter-round, cut it to the width of the shelf and glue it to the front edge. It helps a bit in keeping things from sliding towards the cabinet door while you are traveling and reduces (not eliminates) the first-opening booby trap!

SUPER EASY AND REMOVABLE-
bought some trim at home depot. Think like you would use as molding or wall trim. Just 1/4" very thin. We used 3m to stick them vertically to the walls of a tall cabinet. Then placed a thin shelf (like luann) over the top of the trim where we wanted the shelf and then repeated for the next 2 shelves. it kept our lite trailer light, is totally removable to return trailer to factory specs. considering how narrow the cabinet is the weight load has never been an issue. Each shelf is supported by the supports below it. Lost almost no space left to right and maximized the vertical and was dirt cheap. You don't need to be very handy to do this either. A hand saw, a straight edge and some 3M strips and your good!

Did the same in ours. Needed a place for the shorter items. Works great!
