Extend awning to keep rain off steps

My oem awning ends right at my door. When it rains, water gets all over my stairs and things get a bit messy. Other than buying a longer awning and having it replaced is there anything else that can be done? I am willing to fabricate something in order to fix this. Anyone do anything with this problem.?

Other than buying a new awning or moving the existing one, one thing you could do is build a PVC frame to fit under the existing awning fabric and sit on the existing awning frame and cover it with some plastic coated canvas. Make it where the frame slopes away from the door/steps.

I've seen many complaints about this and no good solutions other than a longer awning.

Prime opportunity for someone to build a better mouse trap.
