External water filter holder

Hey all

My next camper doesn't have a built-in water filter like my Roo so I bought a dual canister system from the RV Water Filter Store. Dave said a lot of people use a tote with holes so the canisters are protected from the elements. I've searched for pictures but no luck.

Has anyone done this and care to share some pictures? I'm thinking just drilling a hole on each end and feeding the hoses in but that seems almost too simple.

Thanks

Greg

Our single hangs from the Frame,no contact with the ground,a dual unit would be mounted the same way! I have posted many Pics of our setup! Youroo!!

They're probably talking about something like this.

Here's a couple I found on the 'net.
I've seen some folks at campgrounds simply leave the filter lay on the inside of the tub and run hoses out holes on either end, then use the tub for hose storage when packing up.

Thanks. I searched for hours yesterday for images and pictures and could only find stands like itat shared. Dave said leaving them out in the sun was not good if using a clear canister. I was hoping to be able to put hoses in there like you suggested too.

Thanks again

I've seen folks get all kinds of creative with filter holders.
Here are a couple more... including an upside down Christmas tree holder, toilet flanges with pvc pipe and a simple bucket.

It's the WaterPur FR1 housing that has a problem with unscrewing on its own. I got lucky because my TT has WaterPur's CCI-10-CLW filter housing that doesn't have that problem. And you can buy lots of aftermarket filters for it.

Pretty fancy.

I went for this container from Home Depot. I'm using a dual canister system from RV Water Filter Store and will drill holes for my hoses plus a drain hole just in case. There is room for my pressure regulator and should hold all of my hoses and attachments too.

I'd think twice on the drain hole. Stick it in your storage compartment and water comes out the drain hole? I know I'd never be able to drain the filter and hoses well enough for that.

Dave from RV Filter Store recommended the drain holes in case it leaked. I was thinking like you so thought I would put a bulkhead threaded fitting and then screw a cap in it. That way I can take it out when using the filter and put it in for storage.

Something like this.

Yeah, that'll work! Good idea.

Pretty funny

I set mine up in a collapseable file crate, kind of like a milk crate only 2X the length. I have a large SS band clamp woven through the side so the filters are in the inside. By adjusting the circumference of the clamp you can vary how high the filter sets in the crate. 1 container, 1 or 2 clamps. Crate is large enough to hold hoses, regulators and associated water hook ups. All the holes in the crate let the water out. All the ideas posted look quite workable

Here is what I ended up doing for a drain. Used a floating livewell plug for when I store it in case any water comes out.

Still working on the holes for the hoses to come in. Used a step drill bit but I need it a little bigger.

I cut the top off of a short orange traffic cone. It fits perfectly inside and it holds it upright. Problem is we put it away somewhere in our house, basement or garage so we would have it for our Winter vacation. Can't find it anywhere...
