Filling the Fresh Water Tank Mod
On my rig I use a cheap Camco hose-end insert to fill my fresh water tank. But I've always had to stand there and hold the hose or else the water pressure would spit the the thing out...or turn the water level down so it takes 30 minutes. Once upon a time I had to buy a Harbor Freight suction cup dent puller, a whole nuther story, but it dawned on me that the thing could do another duty. Now I attach it to the window above the fresh water port, secure the hose to it, and go do something else for a few minutes. Hope this cheap trick serves someone else!

Way to reuse something you already had!
A buddy of mine 3D printed me this adapter that twists onto the fillport and lets me twist in my hose (or use a quick connect as you can see).

I just use a 2' piece of white RV hose with the female end (that got kinked too many times) and shove it in the port. It's never 'blown' out, yet...

I just use a Velcro strap around the hose and the filler cap.

I just stick the male end of the hose into that port and turn on the water, it never has ever blown out of the port.
I do keep the male end clean bu putting on a cap or a nozzle when the hose is not in use to protect that hose from contaminating my FW tank.

I simply don't put water in my fill port faster than the tank can vent, blowing the fill hose out of the port. Never understood why filling for some has to be at full bore.

I also fill slowly. I was at a campground where a guy came and gave me grief about taking too long to fill.. even after I told him it was a 100g tank. He acted like I was taking too long.
So I disconnected, let him do his thing, and then finished filling mine later. Wasn't worth the argument.

That vent, adjacent to the fill port gets a slug of water in it every time the vent spits out the overflow. If you place a piece of tubing ( like a shower hose) over the vent and blow through it you'll see what I'm, referring to in about two seconds and you'll be able to fill your tank

You are a fortunate man to have a buddy who can/will make things like that for you.

good idea, thanks, ...
I don't use high pressure to fill, but do attach one of the blue inline filters to my Camco tank filling adapter, and the added weight will pull the whole rig out if someone isn't holding it the whole time, ... so I'm pretty sure the suction cup won't get tired and complain as much as DW does, ....

Why not put the filter at the spigot?

that cg has elect. only at the sites, no sewer, no water... the routine is that when you come into the cg everyone goes to the potable water station to fill their fresh water tank before going to their sites, ... the hose there is attached to a long spring mounted arm which keeps the end of the hose off the ground and clean, it pulls down to be used, ... a person only has access to the spigot handle and the male end of the hose, so adding the filter at the spigot is not possible,.... and with the clean male end, you can use the hose as it is, or you can add an attachment as I do, the Camco tank filler plus the filter, ... I like to use the filler because the water supply is well water, straight ground water, not city water, ...

I just rigged up an adapter with stuff laying around my shop. Already had the 90 for sites with water available. The tube goes down far enough that it doesn't pop out.

While tangental to the subject, just got one of these, and it is awesome. Strapped it to front of pickup bed, and bada bing, 25 gallons more for your trailer, and it is on sale right now. Includes an rv water pump to transfer. Also nice for refilling elsewhere in the park, and transferring back to your trailer. Hose is long enough too.

I just looked at that sprayer. It is made and designed for spraying Agricultural Chemicals. Nowhere in what I could find did it say it was "Food Safe".
I would not use it for transporting water that I intended to drink. You have no idea what chemicals are used to construct the pump, output hose, what lubricant is in the pump, all of which could leach into the water. The tank is Polyethylene but is it food safe poly?
Same concept as using a hose designed for drinking water instead of an ordinary garden hose for connecting to the water supply at home or in a campsite.

Meh. Gotta die sometime!
The tank is a blow molded tank just exactly like the one under your trailer, and the water pump is an rv water pump. That leaves the hose if you are worried, but I found no objectionable taste. Works a treat. Don’t buy a used one, and it’s all good.

First, I did not say it would not work. Im just questioning the safety aspects.
How do you know the pump is an RV water pump?
It seems to me you could make such a thing, just get a Food Safe container, an RV water pump and some food safe tubing, Pex comes to mind, and make one of your own with products you know to be safe?
