That is a great idea. Does the ball mount piece adjust for leveling heights?

Great ideas. I also like the pics. This is something I really want to add to my camper. Thanks for the ideas.

It looks like loosening the two muffler clamps will allow the sleeve/ball to be adjusted for different leveling heights.

As requested, here are a couple of pictures on how I mount my flags. It' isn't always perfect, but It works most of the time.

Just some more food for thought, there is a United States Flag Code. I believe in properly respecting the flag of our great nation, and I wonder if anyone else knows all of the regulations for properly flying one...
Example: is it properly lit if flown at night?

when I put out the flag I use to bungee cord the flag pole to ladder on the back of the camper. I remember seeing lots of flags at campgrounds now I see very few I wonder why?

I don't know.
Remember politics are "Verboten" on this site.
So I will try to answer without stepping on the rules.
I think somehow patriotism has been politicized to some extent.
I choose to display our flag because so much of my adult life has been spent defending it. I refuse to allow patriotism to die and feel it is not demeaning in any way to show how proud I am of what America has accomplished by flying our colors.
Remember it is the symbol of the American people and not one party or another. No matter what flavor you are; you should not be afraid to show the colors for fear of being politically branded one or the other.

I bought a flag at Camping World that included mounts for awning or ladder. I mount mine on the ladder. Bought a solar spotlight and mounted it to a clamp. I clamp the light to a step on the ladder and point it up at the flag. Looks great at night. The flag came in a nice plastic storage bag. I store it in the rear bumper.

x2 on Herks reason on flying the flag, 20+ years (1970 - 1991) on active duty gives you an added respect for what the flag represents, and the personnal sacrifices so many have given so it can be flown.

My Flag Poles
Not wanting to fly the flag off the rear of my 5er when backed into a site I mounted mine on the pin box.
Angle iron brackets with stainless steel nuts welded to back side are welded to pin box.
Aluminum pole holder is then bolted to pin box with stainless bolts
16' extendable poles slide into bracket tubes.
12 volt landscape lights keep flags lit at night.

Got me thinking about that reciever hitch/ball setup. Been brainstorming (don't laugh) about away to attach a pole to TT and not drill holes. That is a great idea. Time to get the welder out!!

I made my flag pole holder with a 2 foot long piece of square stock and welded a 2 foot piece of exhaust pipe to the stock. Painted it.
It fits inside the bumper stock with a 20 ft telescopic pole. Worked well at the track.

I came up with this:
It also doubles as a hookup assist:
