Flagstaff locker arm install mods
This is just an FYI for anyone wanting to install BAL Locker Arm's or any type of stabilizer lock arm kit on a Flagstaff V-Lite. I'm assuming this may be the case with other Flagstaff models that have a full under belly.
There is a 5/8" - 3/4" strip of plywood between the frame and underbelly. This means the self tapping bolts that come with the locker arm kits are not long enough to screw in to the frame. Instead I used 2.5" long 1/4-20 bolts with washers and nyloc nuts. Use a 1/4" drill bit to ream out the lock arm frame mount holes and drill the mounting holes in the frame.
My trailer came with electric stabilizers that have a much wider base plate then manual scissor jacks. So the 3/8" bolt that comes with the kit is not long enough to accommodate both locker arms being installed on a single stabilizer. I'm sure you can get a longer bolt at your local Lowes Depot. I chose to install one arm on each stabilizer.
Which brings me to my next issue that requires some modification. The rear frame cross member is not in line with the rear stabilizers. The stabs sit about 1 foot forward of the cross member. And on my trailer the rear skirt and under belly were screwed in to the cross member. Had to undo the skirt and belly pan to gain access to the frame. Notched the skirt and belly pan. Then had to bend the locker arm stabilizer mounting tab to account for the 1 foot offset.
Everything worked out in the end. Just wasn't as easy an install as all the videos make it out to be.
