We recently traded up to a 5th wheel which came with a Morryde AXISTEP which appears very close to their Step Above. The brochure claimed the stairs are "easily" removed if necessary because of a tight parking space. In our storage lot we can not lower the stairs if the adjacent spot is occupied. I believe the way to remove the stairs is by pulling out two long pins but they don't seem to want to budge. Anyone have experience with these stairs?

The Torklift Glowsteps are easier to setup than the drawbridge style because they accordion out to whatever length you need for where you’re parked. You can extend the legs too but we don’t need to do that every time. I have the Revolution version that folds up into the doorway and it has an extra step that we’ve used several times for sites where the ground slopes away from the trailer. I replaced the factory-installed MORryde StepAbove step that we thought was rattly and the ball studs broke. I wasn’t a fan the leg extensions. The current generation MORryde step is improved over the previous version which I had but I like the Torklift much better. I was concerned the Torklift might be a bit heavy because I have a bad lower back but I have no problem putting them away. Very pleased with them.

Here is a review thread I created for the Torklift Revolution Uprising steps. Lots of pictures in that thread of my installation.

My primary goal was ground clearance for rough terrain, so in my case, no. Removing the factory steps is very easy...just some bolts.
I DID leave the hanging frame for the factory steps. It's high enough off the ground to pose no issues for dragging on the ground.
One reason I didn't choose the Tork Lifts was ground clearance. But my situation is unusual. If you go to RV parks, that ground clearance is not an issue.

Torklift fit
I am seriously considering replacing the original steps on my Rockwood 2604WS, the 3 step springy kind. I like the Torklift, however I’m worried about fit into the original step bracket. The wider model of Torklift needs 27 1/2 inch between the original brackets, and there is a smaller width that only needs 25inch width but shims are required. My dilemma is the measurement between brackets is 27 1/4 inches. I don’t see a way to get the extra 1/4 inch as far as moving the mounts as they are attached to the frame. So will these work? Or do I need to go with the 25 inch and pay extra for the shims, which I’d rather not do. The threshold on this rig doesn’t seem to be capable of the addition of gold up steps. Any ideas?

Highly recommend calling Torklift and getting advise and their tolerance. I had them installed on our previous fifth wheel by a local rv shop as the original steps were welded on and I didn’t have the tools for removal. I never regretted the Torklifts

@LarryDC and others: IF I remember correctly, it's been six (6) years ago, when I installed my steps, I sent Torklift a photo with dimensions overlayed on the photo of my TT's step box. They recommended the 25" steps with shims for my TT due to the step box width. I did not order the shims because I am a retired machinist with access to a machine shop. In the long run I did not need to make any shims because I used heavy duty fender washers to fill in the gap that was there. You stated that your step box inside dimension was at 27 1/4". I don't remember what my dimensions were but they must not have been that wide as I do remember only using a couple of washers on each side. Those steps served us well for the six (6) years that I owned the TT. The only reason I sold it was because someone ran into the back of my truck totaling it almost a year ago and the case is still in litigation. No truck, no TT. The new owner had never seen the Torklift steps and his wife was ecstatic about them. Good Luck

Attaching a pic, tape measure reads 27 1/4 inch. Spoke to Torklift, they say I should use the 25 inch model, which I’m ok with as long as the actual step isn’t narrower than the original. Plus the shims cost a fair bit extra.

We went with the MORryde 3 step for ours & added the hand rail. Since we're both "bid kids" we love em.
When the dealer installed them, the folding stairs were left in place. We were told this would look better than having an empty framed box under the door.
We've been talking about removing both the folding stairs and framed box, but have not decided yet.

I did that with my Vibe and love it. Added an extended grab bar and Moride makes a storage bin that fits where the folding steps were and are an added addition. Store all your setup blocks and chocs there.

Yes, the Torklift Glowstep for sure. We've had ours for 3 years, quite a few people have seen ours and ordered immediately. Adjustable for height and uneven ground.

Another vote for the Torklift. Our OEM drawbridge couldnt fold down in our garage.
