Fridge and freezer temp display mod
Has anybody added temperature monitors to their fridge and freezer? I searched on here and could not find a thread on it.
Was thinking of installing two of these to the control panel, to the right of the control switches in the header panel to kind of give it an OEM look. Lots of space to install the displays so that is not an issue.
Just need to get on the side of it to run the probes, I think I can access the side from the inside of the cabinet.
Have seen the wireless setups and want more of an OEM look.

Is it back lit for nighttime?
Is it just in Celsius?
Looking at the listing it doesn't say.
Otherwise I'm in!

It is switchable between C & F, some of them are backlit. There are several on ebay, I just grabbed the pic to this one.

I'll let you install yours first.....
Then you can do a full picture pack and write up of your install so I can duplicate your results!

I do like the first one as well, I will be getting two of them to try out. I think the access to install the two probes into the side of the housing will be the only problem.

X2 - same unit, same rationale for monitoring while on the road. Only takes one instance of spoiled food to learn a rotten lesson.

We, too, have had good luck with the simple, wireless, two sender AcuRite unit, ordered on line, that--while taking batteries, they haven't been replaced in more than a year. We didn't have to worry about access wires for transmitters, can place them anywhere in the freezer and refrigerator spaces, and also keeps a record of high/low temps, just in case you're interested.
With varying conditions (particularly on non-residential type frig units) we feel more confident in the performance by monitoring actual temperatures.
Gotta keep the important stuff cold!
Side note; we take them out of the fridge and leave them on in the fifth. We then have an idea how the temps have ranged while it's in storage.
(AcuRite 00986 Refrigerator/Freezer Wireless Digital Thermometer)
Uusally on sale somewhere; shop around.
