Ground Control 3.0 after market install

I’m going to apologize in advance for this rant. I had a Lippert Ground Control 3.0 installed on my Wildcat Max 272 last week. I won’t mention the company that did the install but I’m disappointed and I won’t ever have them work on my rig again, never! Not only did they mount the rear sensor off centerline it’s not behind the rear leveling jacks and it’s upside down. The install instructions specify you MUST place this sensor on center line and behind the rear jacks. There’s even a label on the sensor that says this side up. The only thing they got right was the sensor is facing the front correctly it’s upside down but pointing the right direction. For some reason this unit worked when I picked it up after the install was finished today it’s not functioning properly. I’m hesitant to take it back cause they screwed the install up the first time. Rant over I feel a little better now.

Sounds like someone needs to find a new job at that dealership. Service is just getting worse and worse. Sorry for you issues and hopefully they will be fixed correctly and quickly.

Thinking about doing this install. Are you pretty pleased with the product after you got it sorted out (hopefully you did by now)?

The reviews on Etrailer and Amazon are stellar for the 4 and 6 point leveling system.

Ground Control 3.0 after market install

Unfortunately I have not had time to get this sorted out. I still need to relocate the rear sensor. I’m sure once that is done the system will work fine. Everything else works as advertised except the side to side level of the rear jacks but I believe that’s because the rear sensor is mis-located and mounted upside down. If you do go with this system and pay a RV service shop to install it make sure they follow the installation instructions to the letter!!! Lippert has the after market installation instructions on their web site to download and read.

Today I finished reinstalling the electronics for this product and had a chance to test it out. After moving both the control board and rear sensor to the centerline of the trailer, and remounting the rear sensor right side up, everything worked as advertised and I am again a happy camper.
When I first saw how things were mounted I thought maybe the RV Tech ran out of sensor cable and that was why he mounted things the way he did but as I undid things to move them to the correct position I found 20 feet of cable tucked up inside the bottom cover. This guy just plain old got lazy and did a half assed job of the installation. Sorry they’ve lost my business forever I’ll go to their competition from now on.

Unfortunately, keeping their name to yourself, doesn’t help the next guy...who doesn’t know about their workmanship, Lots of dealers like this. I’d tell everyone I know to stay away. JMHO

May I ask, what was the cost? Are there any deals out there? How hard would these be to install if you are an overactive diy'er.....and not Tim Allen? LoL!

Looks to be $2400-$3000depending on 4 or 6 legs and where you buy from. Etrailer & Amazon has them. Several reviewers indicated drill/bolt on installation was possible (one or two mentioned welding required)

Thanks, Chaps2018. That is what I saw as I checked some of the common sites. Unless I can find a cheapo used set or something, those are too spendy for me for a little convenience. I will put it on my wish list....or wait until "the next rig".

Until then, the 2x6s will have to do for now. 2400 buys a lot of adult beverages for us and provide giggles to the other campers!

Ground Control 3.0 after market install

This setup does go on sale and Camping World will price match. If you buy from CW make sure THE INSTALLATION TECH FOLLOWS THE INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS to the letter!!! There are two type of brackets you can choose from that hold the Jacks in place. One is a weld on and the other is a bolt on. Diy’ers can do this install no problem. I didn’t cause I’ve got arthritis in one of my shoulders that prevents me from lifting heavy objects.

I installed the 3.0 6pt system about a month ago. I used the bolt-on brackets with self-tapping bolts. Took about 6 hours to complete. When I first went to set it up the main control board was bad and Lippert sent me another one. After installing the new one everything works great. Happy camper and no more trial and error with blocks and pads.
