Has anyone done this??

We have the Shamrock 25rs with the king size rear slide bed and I am tossing around the idea of replacing the king size mattress with a queen because of how difficult it is to make the bed up. If I do that then it will give me 7 inches between the wall and mattress on each side. Right now the mattress is right up against the wall and it's hard to even tuck a sheet in. We sleep on a queen mattress in our house so we are use to that size. Has anyone done this before and if so, is it easier to make the bed up?

Another idea is to put something under the mattress that will allow me to slide it out easily to make it up then slide it back. It has carpet underneath it now and it won't budge! Someone suggested peel and stick tiles. Any other ideas as to something I can put underneath it?

I would stick with the king size mattress. I know making the bed can be real pain but in the long run, you won't regret it. You could get a 4" mattress pad under the mattress which would not only help you slide the mattress but add to your sleeping comfort. The mattresses supplied by the camper manufacturers are know to not be the best quality. We did what I suggested and we love it now. Just my opinion.

Lay a 1/4" piece of Masonite board under mattress. A little tug will let it slide.
