Has anyone installed a/c in the bedroom of a DLX 39FDEN using existing roof vent?

I have a 2015 Wildwood DLX 39FDEN that currently has a roof vent installed in the bedroom. The salesman told me that the vent was pre-wired for a optional 2nd A/C unit if I wanted to add later on. Has anyone ever performed the install?

I don't have your specific model, but I have installed a front A/C in the existing roof vent cutout. If you indeed have the unit prewired, it's a fairly easy straight forward swap. The two hardest parts are cleaning the sealant from where the vent sat and getting the A/C up on the roof. There are two options as well ducted ... or just blow air directly out the ceiling housing. There's also the ability on some models (if compatible) to run your second air off an existing dual zone thermostat instead of off the ceiling unit itself. It's mostly all in the instructions that come with the units.

I had a second A/C installed on my Wildcat that was pre-wired. It took less than a hour to complete the install. Happy with the results.

Are these rigs 50 amp or 30 amp? I'd like to add a second
a/c to the bedroom in my rig, but wasn't sure if I could since my camper is 30 amp. I haven't checked yet to see if there is existing wiring in the roof vent.

I ran an additional 30 amp service to my camper.
Then ran a wire from that service through the walls and up through the ceiling to the a/c.

I had to use a video scope in the walls to run the wire.

I've got more and can maybe help you through the process if needed.

I then ran my normal 30 amp camper plug to a dog bone off the 50 amp service on the pole and ran the second a/c 30 amp cord to the 30 amp.

Thanks for all of the replays. My DLX is a 50amp and I don't think I should have any power issues.
My concerns are:
1) Will the existing wires already installed for the 2nd ac unit be pre wired for my thermostat that already controls my main ac unit?
2) My main unit is a Dometic Breeze II and was thinking of using the same in the bedroom. There is a pluming vent coming through my roof about 4" away from the opening of the existing roof vent in the bedroom where I would install the new ac. Will that plumbing vent be in the way? You would think that Forest River would of made sure that it wouldn't be a problem, but you know what happens when you "assume".
3) My main unit can be switched the run the air in the duct work throughout the trailer or just come out the unit itself. Will the 2nd air unit do the same or should I just run the air out of the unit so not to have the units working against each other?
4) My roof is rubber based. What is the best way to remove the sealant around the existing bedroom roof vent?

1) pull inner vent cover off "4 screws" you should see wires.

2) tbd as per phone call.

3) non ducted is your best bet.

4) heat gun, patients and a putty knife.

Turbs...thanks for the link to your a/c install. Lots of good info. I subcribed to the topic to keep it handy. I'll be un-winterizing soon, so I'll be able to get in there and take a good look and see if I can do a set-up similar to yours. I'm a little reluctant to do too much cutting on the rig since its still new and under warranty, but we were camping in Branson over Labor day weekend and it was about 95 degrees during the day. One a/c unit trying to cool a 35 ft trailer with 2 slides couldn't even begin to keep up, so I've got to do something.

Hey Turbs....I got a question for ya. I heard of several that have the pre-wired 50a 5er. When adding that second AC, they took the wires from the breaker for it and connected a cord to run off the 110v at the post. This way, if they were at a 30a site, they could adapt their 50a cord to the 30a post plug and also plug in the 2nd AC to the 110v outlet also on the post. 30AMP site running two AC's. Doable?

Which method is better, a/c in bedroom controlled by wall thermostat or local control on bedroom a/c?

No real difference other the you have to run a wire for the wall mounted thermostat.

Normally the ceiling controls are non ducted and wall thermostats are ducted.

Hi all, here is my feedback re the bed room air.
I have s 29RE Silverback and it was pre wired for the bedroom air. Check your electrical panel for a second air conditioner breaker as well as wiring when you remove the inside of the bedroom vent. Our trailer has a 50amp service but we end up with only a 30amp park connection a lot still. We can't run both air on 30 amp circuit. We had our 13500 BTU put in completely local in the bedroom. Our inside air cover has it's own vent and controls. I made sure that the heavy foil that opens the feed to the rest of the trailer ceiling vents were kept CLOSED. So on a hot day the when the main air is having trouble keeping the trailer cool, in the evening we can shut off the main air and just run the bedroom air. Keeping the door almost closed the bedroom can be as cool as you need for sleeping. This has worked out well for the last 2 years.
