Heater upgrade question

Hey guys,
I’ve got a 2021 27’ Shockwave and I’ve run into a bit of a problem. So the trailer doesn’t seem to be very insulated and it gets downright cold at night. Went out a few weeks ago and the heater just kills my battery and still doesn’t keep the trailer warm at night.

Does anyone know of a system that will heat just the bedroom and not kill my battery? I’m open to any suggestions if anyone has ideas.

Take a look at the Truma Varioheat system at truma.net (USA link).

Portable Heater

Are you hooked up to power? I have found that little electric space heaters put out enough heat at night that I have to turn it down or off. Saves on propane as well

Should have specified that we normally are boondocking.

Have you inspected your ducting to be sure it isn't crushed, misrouted or disconnected?
There's plenty of posts about that.

You might want to consider an alternate propane sourced heater like Mr. Buddy.

There are lots of posts about them and you'll get MANY OPINIONS about them being used inside but they really are safe if used correctly.

Just remember, your R/V has relatively thin walls and little insulation. Even R/Vs touted as 4 season are not really. Cold eats up LP and battery quickly. Cold also produces lots of interior moisture, even from just breathing. Always vent the interior regardless of heat source.

I've used Mr. Buddy in my trailer before. The 1 lb bottle will last about 6 hours. It actually produced more heat than needed. Another problem with Mr. Buddy is that it will raise humidity - a lot. There are a lot more expensive heaters that run off 1 lb bottles.

X 2 on 5 pickers comment about duct work. Your propane furnace should produce enough heat to keep unit warm. Of coarse i didnt see temps we are camping at?

Side note you could read for days on threads about how well units are insulated.

Boondocking

We do a lot of boondocking and have a little EU2000i Honda generator and it serves us well. We are at high altitude and had the geni re-jetted for altitude and and it will run through the night on 1 gallon of gas, 13 hours. Very quiet and hardly notice it running.
We have an Atwood extended run tank and when it is hooked up it will run steady for 5+ days. Won't run the AC but when boondocking that is not an issue.

Just invest in some good down blankets add a battery for extra power or maybe 2 or 3 extra batteries
