Looking to carry my Honda 2000I Gen. on my cargo tray on rear of our t.t. Want to enclose in a box that will keep weather off of it and allow some ventilation. Box would be removed when running Gen. Does anyone have something like this in use and does any company make something like this? Thanks for any input
I have not done this but I can imagine a rubbermaid tote turned upside down over the Honda. Strap down the genny first and then strap down the tote over the top of it.
I assume your cargo tray is expanded metal or grate on the bottom? There's your ventilation.
Good luck and happy camping!!

Some engineering on your part needs to be done to be able to stick a tote that is strong enough to withstand travel stresses carrying a 50# genny plus a cover. Many threads on here that discuss ways others have approached this without using the thin-walled weak bumper for support that most TT have.
Be concerned about the possibility of theft as well.

Although 50lbs does not seem like a lot, when you add 50lbs to the end of 18" lever then bounce it up and down on a rough road, it will generate a lot of torque the bumper and frame. Before you travel with it, I suggest you add 50lbs to the rack then have someone drive it around while you travel behind it and watch it. Then make your decision.

There's the generator and then there is the 50lbs. of gasoline that gets stored on the rack as well in most cases. As I follow them down the highway I find it very telling as to what is under the 'cover'. Something to consider.

I ordered a generator box from KSH Fuel products. I thought it was a little expensive, but am very happy with the product. I mounted it in the back of my truck. The box is lockable and has removable panels so the generator can be run while it is still locked in the box. I don't see any reason why it could not be mounted on the trailer other than those already mentioned. Take a look at this site: https://kshmarine.com/custom-generator-boxes/
We have a locking generator box from Michael Wilson Sales. It is custom to our generator and you do not remove the generator to use it. It has been a few years since we got it but this is the info I have . www.rvgeneratorbox.com . They are very nice . And you can mount more than one on the trailer that can be used for fuel too . Good luck
I concern I have expressed before with gasoline on the back bumper is safety if someone hits or slams into the back of your RV with gasoline there. If you get hit, your RV could go up in flames and who knows how your insurance will deal with it. Also consider what will happen to the other guy that goes up in flames. (I know, he probably deserves it for hitting you) but there could be a lawsuit. If you need to carry some gas, it would be safer put in on the front of the trailer in my opinion.
