hot as he?? out
So..... I'm at Ocean Lakes in Myrtle Beach right now and its Africa hot. My single a /c unit can't keep up in the afternoon, especially with 4 kids running in and out all day. I'm wired for a 2nd a /c, what kind /size of a 2nd a /c are you all running?
Just installed a computer fan on the back of the fridge and put a battery operated one inside. Hopefully that will cool my fridge down

We were down there a couple weeks ago, and the temps were great. I think the hotest day was 87. Good luck with keeping the place cooled down, I hope you enjoy your time there.

Jason, I was down your way June 19th to 22nd at 1st Landing State Park, and it was in the mid 90s during the day. Too hot to be on the beach in the afternoon.....we went down in the morning and the sand was almost too hot to walk on coming back to the camper around noon.
Our AC kept up, but ran almost continually during the hottest part of the day. We did not have a nice shady spot this trip. Our fridge struggled some, but generally kept the food under 40° unless we had to open the door frequently.

Yeah, its been pretty brutal around here the last couple weeks. The pool water at the house feels more like bath water.
Stuffed some pillows in the roof vents, that seems to help a little. May have to find something a little less trashy looking...lol I seen where they sell insulated plugs for those things. I guess since my line of work (Navy) keeps drawing me towards the beach / ocean and we plan on keeping this trailer for a good while I'll still invest in a 2nd a/c.

If you want to install an AC up front, I would suggest a low profile unit such as the Penguin model from Dometic. The front AC's I've seen in fivers are 13,500 BTU units. I have one in my bedroom and it does a good job in keeping the room COLD.
Coleman & Carrier also make low profile RV units.
Be cool.

Thanks!
Does running the second a /c help keep the whole camper cooler or just turn the bedroom into an ice box?

We had a 31 ft Jayco Quad bunk. It had a 13 1/2 in the main unit and we added a 13 1/2 in the bunk house. The camper then got the name from our camping friends as the meat locker!! it would cool down to 64 degrees on a 84 degreee day.
We had Coast RV in Myrtle install it. They did a awesome job and were very quick. In about 2 hours. You might want to give them a call!!! Wouldn't go back to the beach with out at least 2 ac's. We have a 43ft XLR now and just dropped a 3rd on it. Got it done before going to the beach. Wasn't going to chance it.

Almost clear blue skies, maybe 5% clouds, lots of sunshine, 30% humidity and a high today of 66. Just love it. Of course, the payoff is 700' overcast, 0.25 miles visibility, rain and fog. That's mid-October through about 01 April!
Swings vs. roundabouts, I guess. Usually, Anacortes staggers up to daytime highs around 75 in August, but the water in the seas around us is very deep (1000 ft or more) and mainly snow run-off. If you go wading in the bay here, your legs will go numb below the waterline in maybe 15 minutes, even in August.
