Yes I have looked @ those in the past,,, they look to be a very good device for anchoring into dirt or soil !!!

I used flag pole holder with a piece of teflon block to pick up the angle. The swivel bolt was replaced with a longer bolt a spring and a nylock nut. So as to swivel when following up. The polls are electrical conduit 1/2 on top and 3/4 on the bottom. Holes are drilled and pined for height adj. tennis ball so as no scratches in the base frame when folded up. I use light rope to hold it back on the road.

Is the teflon block permanently attached and do you fold the pole assembly up with the awning or do you just remove the poles and store them?

I am also wondering how you tie them up when you are on the road ???
Seams like the best way would be just to remove & store them ???

I probably should,,, $$$ I just use the cheep Dog Screws !!!
Last week @ a cousins place where they have had a lot of rain,,,
I had to be very gentle with my tie downs,,, or I would have pulled Dog Screw right out of the ground,,, any big wind I would have had to put awning away !!

Just bought the claw system not cheap, bought two like 48.00 bucks, then I remembered I needed four, so had to buy 2 more, now I figure I'm into this hold down system at the tune to 540.00 dollars, just to use them cheap crap electrical awnings, still cheaper then buying a new one or running to try and bring it in when the wind hits 20 knots, being I'm lazy

The 3/4 pole (lower pole) is removed and stored for travel.
The top pole is held with the thumb screw that originally held the flag pole I drilled a hole in the pipe so that it is pined and would not fall out. A little locktight on the thumb screw helps.
When folded up I made the 1/2in pipe (top one) just as long as the brace on the side of the camper. Then with some rope I tied a loop and pushed it up in the pipe then inserted the pin and the other end looped the rope around the lower pin on the main frame arm. Attachment 145470

WD I cheated on the 2nd awning buying only one extra claw as the two awnings are close together so I use one claw for the awnings that are close at one end then use one on the far end of each awning.. I usually do not deploy the 2nd one much any way so it be a waste. Later RJD

That's one of the reasons I was thinking about making some poles and brackets. Similar to turbs/old coots and welding a bracket to a ground anchor and or weight and using a clinch pin to tie it to the poles. Plus I wouldn't like all the tripping objects that the extra straps and anchors cause.

Need a bracket that you could attach to the bottom leg,,, with maybe 2 or 4 holes that you could drive large tent stakes into the ground on an angle ???

Wouldn't keep the awning from tilting in if was trying to dump rain water.
