Ideas to keep EMS dry

I was wondering if anyone had a tip for keeping my Progressive Industries 30 amp PT30C EMS from getting wet from the rain. I had thought of a large freezer bag zip tied at the top around the cord. looking for a better idea and thought someone else had came up with something. I wish they came with some kind of factory cover. TIA

Big plastic trash bag over pedestal and line.

Good idea Deuce, I just used what the 0P stated, got tired of doing that and just put in a hard wire unit, had two leak on me in 3 years. They replaced them no questions asked. They are water resistant NOT water proof. Like the bag idea, much better.

I use that also when we camp in the winter over the water line. I have a heated water hose and a wire you wrap over the water line to keep from freezing, then cover with a trash bag. Keeps dry and the wind off.

I keep mine outside, I had three replaced and after the last one they gave me one now that's almost waterproof. It's been outside now for over a year in all kinds of weather and no problems.

OK...I give up. For all of us newbies out there, what is an EMS?

I saw someone had posted a short extension from pedestal to an ammo can with notches at the top so the cover remains water tight. Ems inside with RV cord going out opposite notched top. Looked like an easy way to keep it water tight and store it afterwards. If I can find picture I will post it.

Electric Monitor System. Used to protect your unit from bad electricity. Grounds, shorts, surges, etc. Don't need an elec. fire because of bad power. Some shut down elect. if current is low to protect motors in A/C etc.

I just bought one this summer. The package says not to lay it on the ground but otherwise it appears to be water proof. Mines been out in the rain several times and it still works well.

The best I ever saw was a tool box where the owner drilled two holes in the sides and cut a slit to feed the cable through. I don't think it's required though..

Ok, I had heard of some having to send it off multiple times to be fixed (no charge) but I don't want to have to mess with being without it or having to pay to send it off either. I wish they would offer a cover for it'

Did they attach a cover or just seal better?

Use a large plastic coffee container with a slit in the lid to a hole the fits tight and the bottom cut out of the container. You can use gorilla tape on the slit in the lid and just leave the lid on the cord, OR just take the EMS apart and mount it inside and solve the problem permanently.

On my old portable....
I used a 30 amp extension cord from the pedestal to the EMS.
I locked the EMS under the steps to the steps frame.
I then plugged the trailer umbilical into the EMS.
The EMS was out of rain and out of sight.
I could read the display as I walked towards the door.
I have since switched to a 50 amp hardwired with remote display for my new rig.
