Installed window in door today - it's great

We purchased our 2021 Surveyor 19bhle because of the windows - but still wanted more! So today I cut a hole in the door and now we have this great door window. (Lippert Components 806621 Thin Shade Complete Window Kit for RV Entry Doors, Black, $97 on Amazon) (Laminate blade from Lowe's on my jigsaw)

Great job! Man, you're a lot braver than I am. I'd be afraid I was going to botch it and have a ruined door!

Looks good. My wife wants windows in our bedroom slide out. But I'm afraid there might be some kind of supports that are in the way.

Great idea. Another mod I have to add to my list. You make it look so easy. Thanks for the part number. Great contribution.

Well done. I’ve been wanting to do this on our Alpha Wolf but haven’t worked up the courage yet.

Very well done, if you ask me. I did the same upgrade on my 5'er last year. Turned out to be one of my best upgrades and you wouldn't know it didn't come from the factory. Took me about a half day to complete. The first secret to getting these results is taking your time. The second is measuring carefully, then measuring carefully again and then do it a third time to trace out your cut with the template that comes with the kit. The third secret is to tape very closely the entire area outside of where the window will be to prevent scratching the door with your jig saw when cutting.

Now that looks nice. To bad the factory no longer puts the door window in. Noticed this on a lot of new campers. Later RJD

Yeah, more seem to be eliminating door windows, most likely a cost savings. Although my 2020 Sabre didn't have one, all 2021.5 Sabre's now include a door window that is Lippert Thin Shade upgrade ready.

Yes! I need to do this. I also cant stand not having a window on the door. Great work.

Edit: Just realized i have a screen door that would make putting the shade up and down not that great. Do you have a screen door? Do you just put it up during the day and down at night i guess?

We did ours too.

2020 Sandpiper Fiver.

There are only three windows on camp side, and none from main area. Was too dark and we didnt like that one could not quickly look out at camp side.

Was worth every penny( $90), and the ~hour it took.

Will likely add one to second door in back, plus a buddy wants one in his now.

highly recommend.

Nice! Agreed, now that we've used it I can't imagine that extra window in the door not being there. It's been an excellent addition. Very glad we did it.

Exactly - it is just a little awkward but 100% worth it anyway. For us, we park most often on our property and it's a few acres away the nearest neighbor camper. But at bedtime or in a campground we just open the screen door and put the shade down that way. It's easy and very worth it - but you're correct you can't pull the shade without opening the door.
