Installing second tv in bedroom

I an wanting to install a second tv in the bedroom of my Wildcat 282RK 5th wheel. Only spot is on the outside wall between the window and medicine cabinet. Being new to this kind of thing in an RV, what do I look for and how to decide on it? I understand weight and all, but don't want to destroy the wall or cabinet. I would be most appreciative on this. Have no idea where to start. I am so glad I found this forum.

Welcome to the forums. In your bedroom, where is the plug and the ant hookup located? There should be a board located on the wall close to it for screwing the tv mount to. You can usually find it by pushing on the wall.It will be the only place that feels solid

Welcome to he forum its a great place to get your questions answered. New TVs don't weight much I installed a 24" combo TV DVD player and it only weighed 6 lbs. like was said look for the coax outlet and 110v receptacle there should be a backing plate in the wall by that location.

Thanks for the response. It is great! The 110v/12v plug combo and the coax are attached to the wood medicine cabinet. NOT in the wall. Would there still be a wood support in the wall? Should I think about attaching a swing type wall mount to the cabinet? Not much room there. Cabinet is about 8in out from the wall.

There still has to be a mount board there some where. Push on the wall and you should be able to feel the backing board there.

My Averger ATi had a sticker on the wall indicating wher the TV could be mounted. Right next to the 120 AC Receptacle and the TV Coax. I installed a swing mount. Iwasn to happy with whwer the swing mount needed to be located and where the existing backer board was located in the wall. The mount was going to be screwed into the farthest most edge of the backer board. I found the edges of the backer board using a simple stud locator.

My answer was to mount a small piece of plywood to the wall screwed into the internal backer board. I then mounted the swing mount to the plywood. The Plywood piece is more than sturdy enough and it is behind the TV where it can't seen.

The mounting survived a 5,000 plus mile trip this past June with no ill affects. I used the swing mount for a couple of reasons. One because the TV edge was very close to the wall and it would have been impossible to insert a DVD in it. Two it makes for better viewing angles no matter which side of the bed you are on.

The swing mount was the locking type. I wasn't real happy with the locking arraignment so I jerry-rigged a bungee Cord to help hold the TV and mount in place while we are traveling.

Installing second tv in bedroom

I have a little push button on my coax connection cover plate in my bedroom. While messing with it the other day, we found that when it's depressed the tv in the living room goes out. Does this mean that we can only watch one at a time? Is there a way to watch both at the same time?

The button is for your Over the Air (OTA) antenna booster. It is a switch, light on you can watch OTA signals. Booster off you can watch cable TV from the park. Of course you need to switch your TV from cable to air depending on what you want to watch. Either way you must run a new scan.

Be careful with the screws. I was thinking it was a plywood backer and was stripping out the thin sheet metal backer. After a little more research I found out that I needed to use sheet metal screws and go easy. Then it worked. Make sure when or if you drill the pilot hole for the screw not to let the bit punch thru and mess up the outside wall. I put a little dent in my fiberglass/gel coat when the drill popped thru but it was barely noticeable from the outside. Could have been a lot worse.

Thank you 🥂 The technician at Dodd nailed it , said to use magnets to locate the backer plate, perfect [emoji108] then use 1inch self tapping screws perfect, after I set the first screw and I couldn't see it outside, happy camper [emoji12]

My Cherokee had a set of 2x6's inside the wall as a backer plate...no metal. Had to wrench the lag screws the last 1/4" or so. very confident that it won't be falling off the wall.
