Installing storage compartment door - Rockwood 8329ss

We have a 2015 Rockwood 8329ss which we really enjoy. One minor drawback is that it doesn't have a LOT of storage capacity accessible from the outside. We've noticed though that the newer models have an outside compartment door in the dining room slide that provides access to the space behind the fireplace (dead space in our trailer). I think this is a really good idea and I've been toying with the idea of installing such a door on our unit. Has anyone with an early 2015 model or older 8329ss tried this? I'd be interested to hear from anyone who has tried this. Thanks,

Our TT is a bunkhouse. Below the bottom bunk was a large storage space not accessible from inside or outside. So, I asked a local RV repair shop (not a dealer) to install an outside access storage door (roughly 14"x28" hole)Click image for larger version
