Ladders

Greetings! I have a question about a ladder for my 2018 Rockwood 2604WS trailer. The trailer did not come with a ladder. I have thought about ordering one to attach to the trailer, and I have read a number of threads that deal with that issue. I am now thinking about buying a folding ladder like a Little Giant or buying a telescoping ladder. I have read about issues with the telescoping ladders and damaged fingers. I found one made by a company called Ohuhu that has spacers between the rungs to protect from finger pinchers. My question is: For those of you who have a telescoping ladder, what is your biggest like and biggest dislike. For those of you who have a "Little Giant" type of folding ladder.... the same biggest like and biggest dislike.

You can see the Ohuhu ladder on this link:

Thanks!!

I have one of the little giant type ladders. I liked it for the TT as it fit great into the rear compartment and got me to the roof and slide tops. It does eat up some space though. It can only collapse so far but it was stable. The new trailer has a ladder and it works well, but I still trust the little giant more... Sorry FR but it seems a bit "weak"

I’m happy with it and I have a ladder on the RV and it isn’t too heavy or large...and it came with a bag.

I have a 6 foot folding ladder from Camping World that folds to 4" X 4" X 6'

Likes: Fairly lightweight, folds to a very compact size, rides in the bed of my truck, right next to the 5th wheel hitch.

Dislikes: Unless you are real; careful, easy to pinch fingers while folding.

I have the telescoping aluminum ladder similar to Ohuhu and Oxgord. Makes it easy-peasy to get on MH roof. Factory ladder was too rough on my arthritic knees, use the factory ladder to lean the telescoping against, also carry ladder mitts. Use the factory ladder now to carry waste water tote

Ladder

This is my experience with ladders and 5th wheel.

Tried

(1) Little Giant: Great ladder at home but to big and heavy for camper.

(2) Collapsible: Good extension ladder but always has to lean against
something . Also heavy.

Here's the one that works the best for me.

7' double sided folding step ladder.

It is light weight and stores in a fence post cover.

Have the same ladder and holder (though mine is stored at the rear on my tt. Problem is my ladder is way to short. Have used the collapsible (borrowed) that's over 11' long, but wish there was a better way to store.

This is the Type we have, I can get on Top of any Legal Height RV roof with this ladder or use it at any increment height up to 12'! We lean it against the unit with a towel at the top for padding! There are times where/when a Step ladder is more conducive to the job! This is coming from a person who has "25" ladders, from 2' to 40'! Youroo!!

My RV repair guy explained "if the trailer has not attached ladder, you're not supposed to go on the roof".

All of mine were marketed as walkable. None, until this one, had ladders

ladders

I have to agree with doc 73. I own2017 FR Cherokee 274DBH and states it has a walkable roof. It has no ladder on it. I just carry an extendable 16' ladder in the bed of my truck. Go up on the roof almost every trip, checking condition of roof seals etc. cleaning off slide before bringing it in. I thought about adding a ladder, but never got to it. My extension ladder fits perfect in the 8' bed of the truck, and doesn't weight very much.

And yes; you can check all caulking and seals via DRONE provided by FR. Mine also came with a referral list of Zulu small people who can crawl on the roof for a nominal fee.

I purchased the same Ohuhu ladder and we love it. It is lightweight, easy to transport, takes up a very small footprint, and easily expands so I can get on top of my 5er. It does flex a bit when I climb up it but I have not had a failure nor problems.

I initially purchased an 'A-Frame" style that also flipped into a normal extension ladder. I ended up returning it because it was difficult to collapse and was extremely unstable, add to that a rung broke. It was not Ohuhu brand but a cheaper knock-off.
