Landing gear pad update.

Last time out I was parked on some soft area after extended rain. When I set my landing gear down on treated 2x8's, one of them split, and the jack pad just folded as the weight of the camper pushed down on it. I decided a beefier pad was in order. I used 10" 3/8" steel plate....welded a mount on it , and this is what I ended up with.

This looks like the DIY heavy-duty (with emphasis on the heavy) version of the Elephant Foot pad.

When on soft ground, I always use two wood sections with the grain running perpendicular. Never had one split yet.

Yea...cross grained would have worked out better for me in hindsight. These were a whole lot cheaper than the Elephants. Ive got about $35 invested.
