Gteat mod. I replaced my storage hatch locks with Combi-Cam 7850R-L . They are combination locks. I hated having to use a key to get in and out every time.

Lock change

Wow...how nice these locks are compared to the OEM locks. I changed 7 of the original locks with the Southco locks and the Southco are a joy to use. I used a #11 o-ring to raise the locks up enough to clear the door edge molding on the Mini-Lite.

Many thanks to 'Restcure' for coming up with this change out!

I'm glad you liked it and thanks for the O-ring idea... someone else mentioned that a garden hose washer works too. I'm going to add one or the other when I get the chance.

Use the hose washers! I didn't have any yesterday when I started the lock change-out so I used the o-rings...wasn't entirely happy with the o-rings and thought I might have to also caulk the locks.

I went and got some hose washers as 'Werk' had suggested and this is the better way to go. The locks are sealed tight and no need for any caulk.

Thanks again for the mod idea.

Did you do the shower lock also so all locks are keyed alike? Was a pretty easy fix. I have some other mods I did to my 2304ks if your interested. Thanks again Restcare.

My shower lock was already a CH751...I left it alone...

Yes, always interest in mods as I have only done a few...installed digital thermostat...changed dining table to height adjustable pedestal...

I can't claim to suffer from RV Mod Pox... I enjoy it too much! The last time I ran out of mods we sold the trailer and bought this one!

How far off the outside face do these stand? If it's any more than OEM, I can't use them. Or I would have to change out the magnetic door holder. Which I like btw.

The guy (that's me) used a rotary tool with a sanding drum.

I can measure tonight if you like. But they definitely stand out farther than MY OEM latches did.

Please do and kindly note if they are or without with O rings, washers, etc.
Thanks.

Didn't you change all of your locks to the Southco compression locks?

My apologies, this completely slipped my mind until now. There's not as much difference as I thought - the Southco sticks out about 7/8", and the tab of the stock lock about 3/4". No O-rings or washers on the outside.

Nope, just the pass-through storage doors (see post #1).

Compression Lock Update...Thanks Again to RESTCURE!

One thing we noticed about our trailer early on was that the pass-through storage doors were key only with no separate latch. That meant the door could not be latched without a key, which is a bit of a pain.

As always, we attend a group camping event on the May long weekend to open our season. This year we were camped next to some good friends, and their trailer had some really nice compression latches on the pass through. So the latch does not hold the door by friction; rather, the latch shaft retracts against the inside of the door frame.

I did a little research and found that the latch is a Southco E3-151-25.

Sourcing them was another story. Marc is a REALLY good friend... On his offer I removed the latch and took it to a couple of boating stores in the area... No luck. I could tell it was quality hardware (it must weigh almost half a pound) and I was warned that if I did find it, it wouldn't be cheap.

Back home, my search led me to an Ontario distributor of Southco parts - Parsons Aerocessories in Stoney Creek (905.664.6203). They were very nice to deal with... A call for a quote was promptly returned. They weren't cheap - just under CAD 40 each. And they are a little bigger than the latches they replace, so some work with a rotary tool was needed to make them fit.

We're very pleased with how well they work and I would recommend the product and distributor to anyone.
We have just returned from an 8 day trip and were in and out of the outside storage compartments of our Mini Lite routinely. Both of us smile when we use these locks and are constantly saying 'love these locks'.

So thanks to RestCure we have made our great little camper a 'whole lot' better.

Excellent news!

We scored a couple more from another FR forum member and I will do the rear trunks when I have the time.

Has anyone found the "companion" non-locking version of these latches? I changed out the locking latches on our Roo and would love to replace the other latch on each door. I looked at the Southco website, but I went cross-eyed trying to figure out which one might work.

I just put the locking version on all of the existing locks...I don't have to lock them all, but it made a nice clean look to have them all the same.
