Microwave light upgrade

I've got a Whirlpool microwave that burns out the W10709921 bulbs regularly. I'm assuming it's an incandescent. Is there anyone that has had good luck with an LED or something else? I've spent the morning online looking. Thanks in advance!

Many folks have changed out the bulbs with LED the light its self is outside the cooking compartment but is till exposed to steam and what heat is present when cooking. If my light dies I will replace it with LED.

We replaced our home Whirlpool microwave incandescent bulb with an LED, however it remains on indefinitely even in the off position. It has a low, medium, and high setting, and now an even lower Apparently it's a common issue with lots of speculation. Some say it's a control board issue and others say that there is a very slight current in the off position that can power an LED but not an incandescent. The bulbs are cheap enough so I would give it a try. Good luck.

We leave that light on 24/7 so that might actually work out very well. I have to measure for the extra length for the bulb NavyLCDR found for me...then it's Thunderbirds GO!
