I think herk7769 had the best mounting option.

If you are careful to place the strip along the edge, there is enough room for two strips of LED lights in the mounting rib against the camper wall. I need to get a photo of the double strip mod.

After just reading through all 642 posts, I went looking for a source. Using Herk's link, I then scrolled through the 16 pages of Star-doo listings and found the 5 Meter, 300 LED, 5050 Waterproof SMD LEDs with the 44 Key Controller for $25.27.
I just ordered the lights that wa3pnt linked. I may have found another solution for mounting the controller, there is a wall inside the camper where the rear awning support is located. And that wall buts up to the rear storage compartment, so I think I can work with that area and then run the wires and sensor wire out like herk did.

Herk, I have a question, and because my wife is the pickiest one on the planet, She likes what she sees here with the light but she doesnt want to spend the money unless it does what she wants. She is looking for a slow fade to where all of the colors are lit at different times, sort of like the multi-color christmas lights, we currently have a LED strip lights but when they fade all of the lights are ther same color then fade into the next color all of them the same again. We paid 156.00 for this set on sale but she was unhappy after the perchase. So before I purchase these I want to make sure that it is what she wants. (they probably dont make what she wants). Let me know it these do that. I think that the 25.00 is a great price compared to what I paid for the set that I have. Thanks for your help with this. Anyone else that has them can answer as well I just asked Herk cause he helped on another matter with the awning remote

OK, the way the strip I am using works, there are 4 wires that go to the strip (3 LED color "hots" with a single common ground wire). The computer can control lots of actions using the single hot to each color.
EACH color LED can be: ON, OFF, various shades by varying the voltage to the LED and that is it. If all 3 colors are on at the same time it is "white."
No "running lights" because that would involve a control signal line that can turn off the ground wire at each 4 LED pad (alternating) to make the LEDs "run" by alternating the on/off state of that pad.
There ARE strips wired to do that. (I think Turbs has one and might better point you to what she wants).

Made an alum waterproof box and mounted it up top where it is also protected. Wired the lights to be controlled by the factory step light switch and also added led lights in the step cutout.
