Do you or anyone know what the "white" setting on these look like? This is what I assume we'll use 99% of the time.
Thanks.

Doug,
I have not installed them yet, as the RV is on the production line. I have fired them up in the shop, and "they are bright". Can be dimmed if too bright.
I also verified that if you set them to, for example, bright white and remove the power, when the power is restored they came back on at that setting. I was concerned that they might initially come on at a setting like alternating colors. So if connected to the porch light circuit, they will come on at whatever setting you had when they were turned off.
One caveat, I did the test by removing power for a maximum of 15 minutes. If the disrupted power time is longer than that, I do not know if they will come on as previously set.
That's disappointing to hear. What are you all going with other than white?
Has anyone connected 2 sets of lights together? Is there anything special needed between the 2 sets?
My current thinking is to hang them on the camper, run my power wires through the existing awning holes and then go for as simple as an "on/off" switch as possible (not sure what I'm getting into with that, just yet). I'll have the remote, but I don't see me going funky-town/colors/disco-dance-movement-modes.
For the power wire, is this something that I can just pickup from a big box hardware store?

I am a new RVer....... where does one hook these up to a power source or, are they powered by a battery pack ?
Depending on what you buy - it'll either come with a 120v adapter or not. If it does, you just plug it in like anything else. If it doesn't, you have to run power to it coming off of an existing fixture or power source.

I usually have mine on green or blue. I have the lights permanently mounted to the awning. I then run the power cord down the awning arm to the plug. Some of the members here have done some fancy hook ups, maybe one of them will help you out there.
Is connecting 2 sets as simple as plugging one into the next one?

Thank you for a great idea. I am a new RVer and this "forum" has already helped me a lot. Where do I get these LED strips.....Home Depot ?
I like the picture on your site but, I am computer illiterate...How do I get a picture on my page ??
What's great is all the color combinations you can choose from. Being a LSU Fan (and that is my geocaching handle btw), I usually have mine set for purple or gold/yellow that matches my outside chairs, flamingofans, and such.
At Halloween I used orange, and at Christmas I used green or red.
These LED's have been one of my favorite accessories.....and I want to thank Wagon52, Lou, and everyone here for showing me the light, literally.

A 72 hour hold in a psych unit is beginning to intrigue me as a potential vacation opportunity.
I noticed most people are ordering their led light strips off of ebay from china and the shipping times seem to be high, ie, 2weeks. Not sure if anyone has seen this ebay reseller, but they are in Champaign, IL and offer free shipping with pricing below 30 bucks.

Has anyone had a problem with their 5050 lights? Mine work but only about half the lights work depending on color at the time. (3 or 4 of the leds are on then the next few are off then the next few are on and it continues like that for the 16 foot run.) I have only used them on about five trips averaging 5 days per trip. They are attached to my awning and I roll them up in it. Also when I turn on the white I have a kaleidoscope of colors lit but then just about all the leds are lit. I think I included all the pertinent details, so if you can, please help.

I have not had any issues.
White is all the lights together.
If you select say blue they all won't light up blue. Just the blue leds.
I think you may be ok just unfamiliar with how the lights work.
I wish it was just a problem of not understanding but if I select just blue only about half the lights work like I mentioned in the previous post. If I select white then all lights shine but in different colors. It is weird it worked fine the first few uses.

Depending on the model of strip you bought, you may have the one with the stiff base. It you have that one, it is possible you cracked the circuit boards by wrapping it with the awning material or water intruded into the strip.
The one I used is the rubbery strip (all white one). It is far more flexible and completely waterproof.
