My solution to awning lights

Shoved the strip in the awning groove... Have not hard wired to 12v...lots of oooohhhhs and aaahhhh's at the campground last night.

DH attempted to push ours thru but was a no go, he didn't want to damage them and they really didn't want to go! Ended up using hooks that slide in and they actually did well. Happy with the effect but our remote didn't seem too strong, will replace battery and see if that helps. Cool idea guys!

This makes them even better by adding one of these to make them fully automatic. Added one to mine as well as the light on our flag on the pinbox.

thanks Wagon52!!!! That looks amazing.. My wife and I were at rv show the other day and saw a power awning with led lights... loved it.. just ordered a new Sabre 35qsik but could not get the manufacture to add the lights!!! This is perfect...

my question is how do you run the power? do you unplug every time you put the awning in? just thinking about the power cord getting tangled with the rolling of the awning during extension and retract..

any help would be appreciated!

Don't know if this will help you or not but after reading through multiple pages of these posts, I ordered a set and after getting our Sabre 36QBOK wondered the same thing. While I haven't put them on yet I have identified how I am going to run the wiring. On mine I extended the awning to look to see where the power wires ran. There is a cover inside the awning supports attached to the camper and the cover creates a channel (mine is actually two pieces to allow the awning to close flush and prevent the awning arms from pushing in on the channel). You can remove the channel cover by sliding the cover down and pulling up slightly to get over the bottom of the awning bracket. When you slide the lower channel down you will be able to see the wires for the awning in addition to the the location where they pass through into the basement.

I purchased some 18/4 wire (underground sprinkler wire) that I plan to use to extend the power and control wires from the awning lights into the camper by going through the same hole that the awning power goes through. 50ft. of this was about $10 from a local big box hardware store. Once in, I will pull it into the basement and connect it to a 12 volt source, ground, and controls. This will ensure that the control box and remote antenna are inside the camper to remain dry. I plan to attach these to the camper just under the the awning when it is fully rolled up with double-sides tape as others have so that I don't have to work about the cords rotating with the awning. I just need to determine where I am going to mount the control box and antenna, but I have a lot of options, just need to determine what will work the best.

Here is where I mounted mine. Made a small alum box and put the controller in the box with the antenna out the bottom. Caulked the box to make it watertight. So far, after 10 months and rain storms hitting it, it is still working.

Wow, 809 posts! And I made it to the end. I am convinced into buying the 5050 set, from somewhere, and mount them somehow, using some method .

We have had our lights for about a year and they work great, we put ours under the rain gutter so we could use them when the awning is closed up. I have noticed a little light degradation with some of the diodes not staying the same color. Has anyone else noticed this problem.

Yes, noticed some degradation on some colors, but we usually have them on slow 7 fade and let it go. Will probably get a new strip one of these days.
