On mine at the end of the wire there was a square piece with a half cylindrical surface, with the opposite side flat. The flat side goes against the wall (or whatever you're mounting it on) and the curved surface points out. That curved surface is the window through which the controller receives the IR beam.

If you're uncertain, take a piece of painter's tape, double it back on itself and make a two sided sticky. Temporarily mount the IR receiver and test.

I was thinking that was how the sensor was to be mounted, but just wasn't sure. Thanks again George!

Last night I took my DW and DD (3 years old) out to show them the lights. My DD said "daddy thats really cool!", its good to hear that a 3 year old and a 33 year old (me) think the same thing! haha

I just used the 3M tape that was already on the lights, I cleaned the area with alcohol twice then stuck the lights on. Our first camping reservations aren't for another 3 weeks, but then we have a 120+mile drive each way. I will report back on how the tape holds up.

LED Step Lights

Someone ask me to submit a photo of our LED Step lights, cant; remember exactly who it was....here is a quick photo taken last weekend at Pigeon Forge, TN..This light is wired into the step lights on the inside that I also added at the same time..if one is on, then both are on....power came from the cargo light behind the step inside the cargo compartment..

Used led ribbon lights on the steps controlled with a dusk to dawn switch and wired into the step light. Also wired the awning lights to the same d to d switch.

just got my led strip, was excited to see your idea and ordered same day I saw your post. Now I'm going to install. How did you handle the power plug in with the small power converter? Did you just use an outdoor extension chord? How did you attach or string the power chord and controller?

Wonderiing how you wired this. Mine has a power converter plug in. How did you power the strip? What gauge wire did you use if any? Newbee here, just trying to figure this stuff out.

You need to spend some time reading the posts in this thread. All your questions have been asked before, and there are numerous solutions.

Basically, the majority of the people that have installed the LED Strip Lighting use the RV 12V system to power the controller. Very few have used the "wall wart" and connected it to 110V AC.

Furnance

My buddy from Michigan that also has a 270RET like ours has had the same problem..today we played around turning the furnance on and off several times...inside the cargo hole is an aluminum heat duct that when you hit on it, sounds just like the noise we have been having...My friends Tom, MYCRUSADER actually wrapped his duct with some foil tape, it either eliminated the noise or cut down on it substancially...so, with that said, tomorrow will be Home Depot Day for some tape to wrap around mine...keep your finger crossed...

Everything on ebay and used shrink wrap. Drilled a hole in the plastic and tapped into the worthless factory step light. I looped the strip lights around the top of the cutout so they weren't visible. Added a bent strip of alum in the front to hide the side view of the lights.

12v connector

I know I have read somewhere on this thread about the piece I am looking for, but can't find it, or maybe don't have the patience to look through the 118 pages.

Anyway, I am looking for the part that plugs into the control box with sensor and has 2 leads coming from it to hard wire. Looking for where others bought it and what its called.

Hopefully this makes sense.

We got our first trip coming up on the 15th and would like to have these totally installed. Snow should finally be done here in MN.
