New Steps at the Rally

One of the best if not the best improvements I have made to our Rockwood
fifth wheel is these new steps by MORryde. They are rock solid, sturdy and easy to stow.
They were purchased at the rally and installed by the vender. 100%
improvement over the old flip out steps.

Only problem is that the design Brings in dirt or water unless you clean them, but I will say they are plenty sturdy, much better.

I've got a set on order for my TT. Ordered them on Monday after another vendor cancelled an order because of 4-6 week back order. My set are ready for delivery but we're camping and won't be home until Sunday. I can't wait to get them installed for my next trip!

I have a small rug right at the door that I can shake out if dirt or water gets in. The pros far outweigh the cons for me.

I just have to figure out what I want to with the gap that'll be left by removing the old steps.

They left the old steps in at the rally, after they installed them. But I would venture that you could remove them and box that area in for some more storage.

Sid, you should have bought that hand rail to. As much as you stumble. Oh yea forgot that's only after 5:00 PM. No need.

I don't like them either. You should see how much you would really dislike them if you needed 4 steps instead of just 3. I weigh 213# and have no problem with bounce on the steps on my Montana. I do like the aluminum treads though. They look nicer than my carpeted ones.

Unhappy

I see a problem if you stop in rest area's for lunch and some truck pulls in or out of the slot next to you and runs over them.......

Run over at truck stop!

Won't happen at a truck stop for I have two doors, we just use the back door.

They are being installed on new Travel Trailers and Fifth Wheels at the factory.

I think people that design campers have never stayed a week in them and have never pulled the camper down the road. What it is
the new steps are cheaper to make. I'm not just talking about the steps itself. The RV manufacturer has to build the space for the old steps to fit in. With the new steps they are cheaper to build, takes less time on the line, less time spent on the line more money saved. Do that enough you can build another camper a month

I bought them at Goshen, Tried to install them and had to take them back. My door sill is tilted or something. I have the required clearance on the side opposite the hinges (where I measured). But upon installation, I found the side closest to the hinges did not have enough clearance.

There was no way the doors were going to close with the steps deployed. Mor-Ryde was more than happy to refund my purchase, but I was really bummed becasue I really wanted those stairs.

This is a problem? Do truckers routinely run over steps?

The reason I bought a 2017 instead of a 2018. It may be my last if those stairs are the only option. As stated above- cheaper for the builder and the start of a fad for those that need the latest option

I've been on this fence about buying a set and would be interested as to "Why" y'all don't like them?
I think negative reviews are sometimes more helpful than the positive ones!

Thanks in advance!

All the times it's raining when we stop for a break and all the great campgrounds we go too(muddy). At rest areas we sometimes just take out three steps

We purchased the MorRyde 3 stepper at the rally also. They are a 100% improvement over the original 3 step "diving board" steps that came on it. We love them! Just a quick wipe with a rag or shake before the steps are locked into place will take care of any dirt or wetness. Besides, our parrot's cage is located by the door and the wife is cleaning that area on a regular basis. So no problemo.

Yea, I can see where having to clean wet, dirty steps could be a hassle. Thanks!
