No exhaust vent over stove

Hello,
It’s been a while since my last post, my wife and I wanted to get back to camping so I recently purchased a 2019 Palomino Real Lite 181.

Unfortunately it does not have a hood exhaust fan over the little 2 burner stove or any exhaust vent anywhere within the living area to remove heat and unwanted orders.

Has anyone added an over the range exhaust fan to their TT?

I’m not sure how easy it will be to obtain a wall schematic for my TT model from Forest River.

I’m pretty handy so I feel comfortable doing it as long as I know what’s behind the wall before cutting a hole in it. Any advise or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance JC

I doubt you will get any kind of diagram showing wall wiring or configuration from FR. You may be able to kill two birds with one stone by installing something like a fanatic fan in the ceiling instead of the kitchen hood. JMHO

SeaDog, thanks for your reply and suggestion, the fantastic fan might be a good option if I can rout the wiring.

The last tt I had, had the vent cover over stove however there was no outlet to vent to the out side. There was a roof vent near the stove so a fanatic fan in its place. Later RJD

Replaced ceiling vents with a Fantastic roof vent. Wife can turn the fan on with the remote. Best investment we have made.

I don't know your rig and you didn't mention if there is a microwave oven above the stove. If there is a microwave with a recirculating filter hood it may be easily converted to an exhaust. Most microwaves with hoods can be converted, if you don't mind cutting a hole in the camper wall. Other than that the suggestions for the Fantastic make a lot of sense.

So find a suitable hood fan (keep the receipt in case you have to return it back) and check the mesurements to find where the exhaust hole has to be cut.

Cut the wall from the inside; generaly it is a tiny luan (or so ) paneling.
Doing so, you will be able to find what is in the wall.

If no major hindrances are found, keep going cutting to the outside finish wall and install the hood.

If you find hindrances, you can put back the inside panelling cut with glue and cover it with a backsplash panel approved by DW.
Return the hood to the store.

Sometimes you just have to open a window.
Look for a fan switch to be sure. Some do not vent outside.

I appreciate everyone’s comments and or suggestions, I think I’m going to follow HerveVR’s suggestion, I have access to 12V power over the kitchen cabinets. The only light closest to the roof vent currently installed is controlled by a switch. Thanks

I have the same problem...I contacted FR and they sent me the schematics for the outside walls. I'll do my modification this spring.

Birdmanll, I have sister TT a Palomini 181. I feel your pain because we haven’t cooked a breakfast yet that hasn’t set off the smoke alarm! We open opposite windows from stove, turn on the fantastic fan in bathroom and even that doesn’t help all the time.
I also thought about putting a vent over stove but someone from the factory decided that was a good place for a speaker. If you find a solution I’m interested in hearing about it.

Sammici, I’ll post some pictures when I’m done. Mine does not the speaker under the cabinet, the speakers are on the side of the pantry / cabinet.

I was advised by Forest River / Palomino that there’s a beam behind the wall where the cut out would be for the vent, they believe the vent in the ceiling over the bed is satisfactory. Unfortunately the only option is to replace that vent with one with a fan and deal with the electrical part of it. Also FYI, I inquired about the schematic for the rear wall in the event I wanted to add a roof ladder. They said no backing on that wall to support a ladder and that the roof on Palomini lites it’s not a walk on roof. Better start my Matrix training if I need to service the roof. Not sure what I’ll decide but will keep you posted.

Sorry to hear that. I also gave up on installing the vent through the wall because there’s not enough room between the window and side pantry for it.
It’s strange that they told you no ladder can be installed because mine came from the factory with one. The ladder is included in the off-road package which I do not have.
My DW told me to stop spending money and just put a little fan that’s on a clip(which I use at night over the bed)in the window on exhaust when I’m cooking inside. I hate to admit it but she’s right and it will probably work just fine! Good luck.

I actually just went to the Palomino website and they dropped both of our models. And now they have a badlands edition that does include the ladder from the factory. Go figure.

I purchased a 20” ductless range hood, it’ll work for me, it has a removable filter that can be cleaned and reused. Also installed a stove cover that works as extra counter space when stove is not in use and as a back splash with sides. See attached.
