PVC Dish Tailgater Stand

Thought I would post this for anyone like me who doesn't like their ($300) Tailgater sitting on the ground.

Parts needed;

20' Schedule 40 1" PVC
8 X 90s
8 X Tees

All parts are 1" Schedule 40 PVC.
The top support square uses;

Cut 4 X 9 1/2"
Cut 4 X 1 1/2"
4 X Tees
4 X 90s

The bottom support square uses;

Cut 4 X 17 1/2"
Cut 4 X 1 1/2"
4 X Tees
4 X 90s

For the support legs I cut 4 X 25". The support legs are at an angle because the top square is smaller than the bottom. If you put the Tees in the middle of each cross piece, both top and bottom, I don't think you would have the angle's. But I was okay with it. I glued the top square and the bottom but left the support legs UN-glued so I could break it down for storage and transport. I plan on using 2 bungee cords and a 5 gal bucket, full of water as an anchor.

I put mine on a 2' by 2' piece of 3/4'' plywood. Screwed in a couple hooks and bungee it on tight. The plywood base is heavy enough to hold it down.

Made 2 different mounts for mine, one for the pinbox and one for 3 different locations on the ladder. I also carry a tripod I made for the old Dish antenna that can be used.

Plan B

Plan B
The twist did start to bother me, so I did a mod on the bottom square. I used;

Cut 8 1/2" pipe
Cut 16 1/4" pipe
same 90s and Tees.

Now it's straight and has a little larger base square.

Mine I just have a metal plate similar to OC's with holes drilled at each corner. An old broom handle screws into the bottom with a sharpened end. I just shtickit in the ground wherever I need then use the holes in the plate for tie downs. Compact, very light weight, and versatile.

I like your stand but am fearful of the wind. I had a dish on a tripod at Moab, Utah when a sudden gust of wind slammed it to the ground and broke something. It never worked again. That is when we bought the Tailgater. I have been afraid to set it on anything that it might blow off or blow over. As soon as my warranty runs out I plan to tap the bottom of the tailgater and attach a metal plate to it (Thanks to Old Coot for the idea). I already have brakets made that will allow me to attach it to any of the four corners of my toyhauler.

Be sure to anchor your stand firmly to the ground. My tripod that blew over had a gallon jug filled with rock.
