For me, I ended up putting the display fairly low just inside the main door which happens to be next to and aft of the fridge. Initially, I was thinking of mounting the display next to all of the trailer switches (slides, lights, water heater, etc) that is inside the door thinking that the cavity behind that was open. I pulled the switch panel off and saw that there was a piece of wood blocking that would prevent just dropping the wire and there was no way of knowing if there were more than one. I'm sure the factory ran all the wires before sliding in the fridge, and I was NOT going to pull the fridge out. Looking in the cavity where I had put the EMS, I could see a screw coming into the space under the fridge from a mount for a fire extinguisher. So I drilled a hole between the mount and the outside wall. That put me into an open cavity behind the fridge, but above the plywood the fridge sits on - oops. So I drilled a hole up thru that plywood platform and fished the wire down.
The display is in a good place for me to check it from outside the trailer - great for when I'm hooking up. I can watch as it cycles thru the readings before turning anything in the trailer on - may be over kill, but I like to have the main breaker in the trailer off at this point. I need to bend over to read the display while inside, but usable.
Knowing what I know now, I might have put the display a bit higher, but it is serviceable where it is, so I'm not going to change it.
My only complaint about it, I wish the connection for the display wire went straight into the back of the display instead of into the bottom. I did mount the display as low as possible, pushing down lightly on the wire to hide the hole. Note that the hole has to be of fairly good size. The connector is similar to a phone jack. Progressive calls the wire a data wire, not phone wire, so I suspect it is wired differently.
