Replace Couch/Fold out Bed

DW has decided she would like to replace the couch in our Avenger with what I guess you call "Theater Seats" (2 place recliner couch) or a pair of recliners. The space they would have to fit into is 69" maximum.

Any recommendations? Trying to stay under $1K, which rules out the heated/massaging units

Replace Couch/Fold out Bed

We did something similar three years ago. Replaced the two very basic swivel rockers with better quality seating plus took out the jack knife sofa and put in a very comfortable sofa that folds out and makes a very comfortable bed with no crack down the middle. We opted for pretty nice stuff and the three units (made by Lippert) installed by Camping World ran about 3K. They are a really nice addition and bring a lot of comfort especially for longer RV trips and when hosting a guest over night. The one caution I would make is to check the weight of the new furniture. Our new stuff added to the weight of the trailer and since the two recliners are in the very rear, I have to repack my trailer to get as much heavy stuff up front to keep my tongue weight within the 10 % range.

We replaced our couch/ bed / recliner with two euro type swivel recliners.

The swivel makes it nice , working on a bigger table between the recliners . Way more comfortable than the old couch.Click image for larger version

That's a great idea with the table! Unfortunately, I've only got 69" to work with.

We did the same thing a year ago and love them. We got 2 RecPro recliners and sized the center armrest to properly space them in the opening. Worked out great!

We dud the same thing you are thinking about doing. Its hard to find 2 recliners to fit in the 69”. I ended up ordering 2 recliners from Walmart . They fit just fine with room to get you hand over the side to pull the tab yo open them up. Much more comfortable

I did the same. Walmart recliners aren’t the best but work in the space allowed. Been two years + and so far good.

We just purchased a Lazy Boy reclining love seat. It is 63” wide, we have a 70” opening. It was $1100. I wanted the nice RV type theater seating, but the crappy “bonded leather” on all RV furniture kept me from doing that. But they do make them in cloth.

Check out Lane recliners. They are smaller and lighter than Lazyboys. We liked them in our trailer so much we bought another set for our family room. I can send measurements if you need them. An added benefit is they come apart. Base and back snap ( hook?) Together. It makes it much easier to move.

We have the Theatre Seating on one side of the RV, with the peeling fabric all over the place. We replaced that with shop4seats.com Theatre Seating. DH called on the phone and talked to the guy, we wanted cloth, they don't do cloth but their "leather" is better than the bonded leather (spray painted on). On the other side of the RV we have a huge pull out couch - DH likes sitting on that. Where he sits, he sinks right down in a hole! We are replacing that with shop4seats.com jack knife couch. Their pull out sleeper couches only have blow up mattress - had that once before - we would find grandson sleeping on springs in the morning - blow up always deflated!

Ordered both from California, $300 shipping for both, and you can buy into the "white glove" treatment from shipping company and they will bring into camper and put together. All & All: $2886, will receive in September. CAN'T WAIT!!

Just did power recliners and a 5 inch center console in our unit at 64 inches. We had a hard time finding shorter size as well. Was Kathy Ireland brand from Camping World. Here is the link to that thread.

LOL, I think you might be on to something. That's the problem DW and I have with sleeper sofa we have.

Roddor, that's exactly what we're looking for.

We've been looking everywhere we can think of other than CW to avoid the CW prices, and the smaller sizes are about impossible to find. Everything seems to be around 80" in width which just won't fit.

I know I had a hard time finding much inventory for the shorter sizes. We were hitting liquidation stores often but could never find a set or colors / fabric type we wanted for anything that fit. it was about $3-4000 to get our factory recliner options and no guarantee of how fast they would show up with COVID and having to go through a dealer. So after awhile we extended our budget just to get some. I was able to reuse the factory hold down brackets from our old Jack knife sofa on the new chairs. I think I read somewhere the Kathy Ireland brand is made for RV and exclusively for CW. Have not seen them anywhere else. I did self install to same money. We paid about $1700 for the two chairs and center unit. Manual recliners can be had for cheaper.

I recently purchased a couch at a surplus RV furniture store right up near Elkhart, IN for exactly $1000. Each section (3) reclines and lays back. Plus the two end units have heated seats and vibrating backs. Its all very nice stuff. I installed it myself in place of a U Shaped dinette.

I'm not smart enough to figure out how to insert a picture of it. Dean

Ikea for us

We weren't replacing the sofa on our Alfa Sun, we were replacing the overstuffed, heavy, out-dated recliners that came with it. Got two chairs with foot stools for the weight of one of those clunkers. Gave us enough extra space for two Ikea side tables with book/magazine pouches. And the footstools came in handy for extra seating when we had small parties with other campers pre-pandemic.
