Roof Rack Install

Hello-

I am purchasing 2 Kayaks that I would like to carry on the roof of our Forester 3011DS Motorhome. Has anyone installed a roof rack system that can shed some light on this project??

Any and all suggestions, hints, etc will be welcome.

Denny

May be kinda tough to get them up and down from up there. I tow a Wrangler behind my coach and have a roof rack on my Jeep for my two kayaks.

Gotcha, I know the roof can handle the weight of the yaks, be careful of the height and you should be good to go.

Are you planning on putting some kind of rack up there?

I am hoping to install some type of rack system, ie Thule or Yakima. I'm hoping someone out there has been this route.

I've hauled a few yaks. Use a rail system to spread the surface area and give the system more contact. Use each available per drilled hole. Stainless hardware and lots of silicone sealant. On the inside, use the nut system that look like half golf balls. I drilled through my entire roof, there were not enough support ribs on the roof to secure the system. Mine has been up for 7 years, no issues. I have loaded 6 whitewater yaks up there at 50lbs each on a 7 western states tour.
