Running lights on shore power

Back in the day the frozen chicken haulers got paid more and were able to buy more lights for their trucks 💰💰. Usually nowadays its poultry haulers that have all those lights now - hence chicken lights 🐔

I just found this while looking for the etymology of it. Seems to go along with others I found.

" We called them chicken lights back in the 70s and 80s because back then the first guys to put a lot of lights on their trucks were chicken haulers, mostly out of north west Arkansas. A lot of those trucks ran coast to coast and they sure looked great at night. There were others that had lights but on the CB they all were called chicken haulers if they had a lot of lights. Hence the term "chicken lights". Now the term has came to mean almost any marker lights other than stock"

Just a fyi, I ran a jumper fuse In my cable a few times when i had to park my trailer on the street and was afraid someone would hit it. ...after a few weeks total of doing it, the lense covers facing the Sun crAcked from the heat...gave me an excuse to switch to led...just saying!!..

You can buy the RV glow or use a 5 amp fuse pushed into the 3 & 4 slots on the plug. You don't have to twist or bend the prongs. If you're plugged into shore power, it'll illuminate the lights from your shore power. If you're running off just your battery, it'll illuminate the lights from your battery. Super easy and kind of cool at night.

Get a 7-pin connector without wiring a bracket to mount it up front, then wire a fuse (some say 5 amp, it might take a more) across 3 and 4, then plug your trailer into it when you want light. You could get fancy and wire it to an interior switch. The adapter available at Amazon is way easier, but what's the fun in that!
