Scan gauge Users - I Need Information

I purchased a Scangauge II for our Sunseeker on a 2010 year model E-450 V-10 chassis mainly to read transmission fluid temperature (TFT). I downloaded the manufacturer's list of codes and entered them for this and some other readouts, but none of them work. I've read in this forum that some are getting a TFT readout with their Scangauge.

If you are reading TFT on your Ford V-10, please post the codes you have entered along with your year and model so I can try the codes you are using.

Thanks

I don't understand why you need to enter codes. I have the same unit hooked to my Sprinter and it reads anything that is available. If it does not display a specific temp etc. it might be because that info is not available.

Am I wrong in this? Just curious.

I had a scangauge on my kia and I could not get it to read the trans temp. I emailed scanegauge and they gave me a couple codes to try but I could never get it to work. You may want to Email scanegauge and see if they have an answer, they were very responsive when I asked.

The Scangauge displays a number of standard data points but they offer the capability to add more points that are vehicle specific. Mine displays the standard ones okay. I downloaded their code sheet and entered the codes for my vehicle. I get no display for the ones that entered. I have read on this forum that some people are getting additional data points and would like to know what coder they are using and what year model. It may be that later year Fords output the data but mine does not.

I contacted Scangauge but they had no other suggestions.

I programmed mine 4 1/2 years ago but believe it was the Ford CAN codes that work on my 2010 V8.

Ditto....I got mine about 5 years ago and I recall something about the Ford Codes. Also, when I bought it, I had to pay a few extra bucks for the extra "X-codes" or something to that affect. Sorry I cant recall exactly but maybe this will point you to in the right direction.

good luck.

On the unit, go into X Gauge using the menu button.
Once there, scroll through and program the exact Ford specific code below:

It is a PITA to plug in all of the numbers, but the Scan-Gauge II has been reading the TFT on my truck for 8 years now.

There were 2 sets of X-Gauge numbers listed when I got my Scan-Gauge. I entered in 1 of the codes (PWM or CAN...can't remember which), and it did not work. I entered the other, and it worked !! If 1 doesn't work, try the other. Ford/Lincoln/Mercury Specific : Linear Logic : Home of the ScanGauge

Looks like 05CrewDually's codes might be for the 6.0 diesel instead of a gasser.

Mt guy

What is the year, model and engine in your truck?

I've tried all the combinations in the list. Which worked for you? I'll try again.

Thanks

I have a 2006 F150 with the 5.4L engine. I think I entered the PWM codes 1st figuring CAN might mean Canandian. I think the CAN is what I have now. I will see if I can check that easily without messing something up, and get back to you.

I also monitor GR (gear ratio) and SLP (torque converter ratio). It beneficial (at least to me) to know if I am I am 3rd gear with the torque converter locked, or 4th gear with the torque converter unlocked (worst option). It is hard to tell sometimes without the ScanGauge.

I tried BAR (barometric pressure) for kicks and giggles, but could never get that to work.

RamblerGuy, I had to get the ye ol' directions out just to see how to get to the codes.

I apparently had to use the CANSF codes:

TXD 07E0221674(00)
RXF 046205160674
RXD 3010
MTH 000100080000
Name TFT

I put the last 2 digits "00" in parenthesis in the TXD section, because only 10 digits are shown in the chart, but 12 digits are needed. I remember reading somewhere that 0s are needed to fill in the extra spaces.

If those codes don't work, then there are 3 alternate codes shown in the PDF link posted previously in my post #8.

Hope this helps.

I also found besides SLP, GR, TFT, and BAR (doesn't work), I had also plugged in CTQ (torgue into torque converter). I will have to check that out next time I get the truck out.

Here is an old thread that I found on the ScanGauge: http://www.forestriverforums.com/for...ons-11612.html

To all who responded,

Thanks for taking time to reply.

MtnGuy,

You may have given me the clue, to add two more zeros.

I'll be getting the RV out of storage this week and I work on it again.
