I realize your question was electrical in nature but first things first.
The soltion to mounting a generator to rear bumpers requires proper mounting.
I installed Safety Struts and use a GennyGo platform. My 100 pound + Champion Inverter ( with full tank of gas) has had several 3,000 mile trips on freeways and countless miles on Forest Service roads without any issues at all. Bumper is OE. No bending, twisting, cracking of welds, or any other horror stories frequently posted.
Most of those I've read involved bolt on 2" hitch mounts and Harbor Freight type platforms that twist the dickens out of 4" bumpers.
