Sink cover modification
We have a new Grey Wolf 29TE and my wife’s only complaint is that there is not enough kitchen counter space. So here is what I came up with. Parts were less than $25. I already had a piece of 1x4 and some satin black spray paint (to paint the board.)

Brackets hold 100 lbs. Added the 1x4 cut 18” long and cut the board in half long ways giving me two 18 x 1 3/4 x 3/4 boards. Painted with satin black paint.

Added Velcro strips to the boards and bottom of the sink cover.

Folds down out of the way, but stills comes off to cover the sink for travel. Happy wife = happy life. Took about two hours total. Used 1 1/4” wafer head screws to mount the brackets and 3/4” wafer heads to mount the boards to the brackets.

This allows for use of the sink and have additional counter space. Made my wife happy and thought some others might be interested in my idea.

Does the drawer clear the brackets to open when the shelf is down? Great idea and thanks for sharing!

I rarely use the counter top without needing the sink at the same time so I see the added value in your modification! It's your family camper, do what's best for your family! Looks nice and clean too, great mod!

Yes it does clear the drawers. I looked at measurements for a few brackets on Amazon and these were a great fit. We were able to get in both drawers with the extension up this weekend. With the sink cover off and brackets down drawers open just fine as well.

That came out really nice, great job! I do have one question though. When you say still comes off to cover the sink for travel, does covering the sink for travel serve a purpose I may not be thinking of? We put some items that normally sit on the counter in the sink for travel but never use the cover.

No real purpose. The Velcro is holding very well. You could definitely travel with the top installed up or down position. Here is a link to the Velcro I used.

Glad to see people like it.

Very nice mod MO311fan. I showed my wife and she wants that in our 27dbs. So, one of us is going to have to add that for her!

Great idea! Gonna put that one on the to-do list. Curious how much space that leaves between the dining table and the extension when it's up? Pics don't really show.

We are going camping this weekend, will try to remember to get a picture of that space. It leaves enough room to get through without hitting the extension or table though. That’s a pretty wide area in the 29TE.

Thought I would add a picture of the screws I used with a Sheetrock screw thrown in for comparison. It took 6 of these 1 1/4” long, and four 3/4” long.

Here is a pic of the space between the dinette and the extension. Leaves 16” in a 29TE.
