Slam Latches

I have a 2022 2109s Rockwood Mini Lite that have the cheap locks and latches on the outside storage doors has anyone ever tried to up grade these to slam latches I would like to do this. If anyone has done this mod I would like to know what parts to buy and how to install them.I noticed the 2025 models now have them.

You are looking the same thing I wanted to do with our 22 2509s. I saw one on rv trader where it had been done once. I’m sure it’s going to require door strikes and cutting holes in the doors. I was never bold enough to try.

This fellow retrofitted slam latches on his Geo Pro. I purchased locks and latches but haven't done the installation yet.

I wonder if these latches would work in single form on the bigger doors or not.

JB This video is even better than the first one I like the use of the plugs to replace the original latches but I still think I will buy 5 and install 2 on each of the long doors for a better weather seal. To me this is a fairly cheap mod for $100 that will give me a piece of mind that I won’t have worry about the cheap original latches will break while traveling.

Now I have to figure out what size struts I need to buy to hold up the cabinet doors above the couch and bed, another thing that bothers me

It seems there’s really nothing to it. I don’t know if I can resist trying it, these thing latches are just awful.

Worst case scenario if you screw up you order a new door. JB in post # 6 posted another video of a guy named John installing these latches and he made a perfect template and another good tip for installing the striker plate

I think I’m going to transition to these for an OEM look. I’ll start with the outdoor kitchen, since that’s the most in and out of the whole unit. If no other door and the slam latches I would already be happier.

I too have ordered latches. What are your plans For the centered magnet catches if yours are like mine? That’s the only issue I see.

I received my latches yesterday only 2 days to get them but they shipped from Elkhart, In. I live in Hellinois that’s why I received mine so fast. I ordered 5 latches, I will be putting 2 on each of the longer doors and 1 on the small door none will interfere with the magnetic door holder upper. I have already made the template and I’m going for it this weekend when the weather cools down.

“Hellinois” LOL!

I’m doing it like OEM and one latch on all but my kitchen. My latches will interfere with magnets so. Excited to see how yours go, hope to have mine on during our trip next weekend.

I decided to put 2 on each of the longer doors, for a better seal, it will cover up both the holes from the original crappy latches and extra weight when closing the doors. We’re not camping this weekend so I most likely get on it this weekend and I’ll post pictures. The new 2025 Rockwood Mini Lite’s I believe only have 1 slam latch on each baggage door.

If it were 88 here I'd need a jacket!

Just the idea of "slam latches" makes me shutter. I've seen doors slammed, windows slammed, hatches slammed, and likewise for other things. The usual result is things damaged and broken.

Sends the connotation that folks don't care for their stuff. Slam anything on our TT and I'll be explaining to you how to properly open and close things.

Bob, I've been thinking about posting the same thing you just did, but was waiting. Mine has slam latches, and I slam them exactly 0% of the time. In fact, every RV I've owned has had slam latches, and I've never slammed them. My good friend we camp with a lot has a 2109S with the thumb latches, and his are no more trouble to operate than mine are.

In short, I wouldn't go to the trouble to swap from thumb latches to slam latches.
