Slide out stabilizer jack
Hello fellow campers,
We have a 274dbh and was wondering if slide out stabilizer Jacks were a good or bad idea? Any suggestions?
Thanks

X2. If you use them and your camper shifts or sinks a little they can do more harm than good. We're on our 4th camper with slides and have never used them.

I used them on our previous trailer, a Micro Lite 21DS, .....the slideout was the dinette and extended almost 40" out,.... that's a lot, plus when we were sitting at the table that added even more weight to that extended area,....sure, it's important to use them correctly, to just make contact with the slideout, not to raise it,.....yes I knew all the reasons for not using them, but I felt better about them being there than when they weren't,.....our present trailer is a 25KS, the slideout is the kitchen and only extends 19" out so I don't use them on this trailer............

Have had two trailers with "super slides" ........ never used them never needed them..... Personally a waste of money and bigger than that a risk of thousands in damage..........

I agree with the previous posts, bad idea. I've had super slides since 1998 and have not had any problems.

Not a thing, other than to stabilize the trailer to the point that slide out jacks are moot.
And OP did ASK for suggestions.

Sorry. Thought the question was supporting the slide out while out not stabilizing the slide out.

For most who own a travel trailer like you the rear jacks/ stabilizers have always been a mixed blessing, they are low hung fruit that do get bent up or lost from hitting something.
I just ran across something from someone on facebook how has what looks like a great idea and product so take a look here, and if it works out i am sure the fellow would love it you tell your freinds'
( )
Good luck and Happy Camping

OP is asking about a stabilizer jacks for a slide out, not the camper itself. Jacks of any kind on a slide out is just asking for MAJOR problems.

Seams thinking out of the box has gotten lost here. How about SUPPORTING THE SLIDE WHILE OUT NOT STABILIZING IT!!! They may be called stabilizers however my take is they are used to support not stabilize.

Call it what you will, slides are self supported and should not be braced from below.

That's what the OP is asking Vince. Now explain to him why the slide does not need to be
supported and does not need any additional help.
Thanks

I used support jacks on our slideout during 2014 for over 200 days camping(see my post #6 in this thread), ...I used them correctly and had no problems whatsoever, and I believe when used correctly they are helpful and do not lead to any problems at all,.....I'm puzzled as to why folks who have never used them at all seem almost angry at the idea that other people might be interested in using them?

Because fella10 they keep stating stabilize while your statement used support which is correct and has a much different meaning.
