I am unfamiliar with a lot of the GM stuff, but I would try and get a set of factory towing mirrors off of a late model GM pickup and install them on your doors.

I know with the Fords the factory dual bar towing mirrors will mount up to the trucks that have the sport type mirrors.

I would think this to be similar with the GM pickups?

a set of factory mirrors that will expand will set you back over $1500

I installed a set of clip-on mirrors and they work just fine.

They're all over in Fleabay for various prices well under what you are saying.

I am not even talking chinese knockoffs.

Yeah you might have to be patient and buy one at a time to get a good deal, but it would be worth it in my opinion.

I am not saying that clip on mirrors don't work, but I don't like to take stuff on and off. Simple as that. Pay for what you want or don't.

Mr. Black, I like the idea of not having to put things on and off. What is Fleabay? I am driving a 97 suburban.

hahaha

gabieone, that is short for Ebay.

I'm not sure what is going to be available for a rig of that year. I made a bold assumption that you had a newer Chevy. Still worth a look though as there are a lot of great deals on ebay motors for what you are looking for.

Edit,

Something like these would be ideal. Although I can't vouch for their quality (probably foriegn but that don't always mean bad). I don't think the oem mirrors from the new chevy trucks mounts are the same as the 90s trucks.

I have the same mirrors for my 2000 F150, they work well and that is good price also. I paid like 60.00 for mine.

I have the same set you have, but I put the round convex mirror on my Tahoe mirror, not the add-on. At Camp I store them under the second seat.

I have that mirror and LOVE it. It will be hard to get any mirror that will let you 'see around' the trailer.
I set mine to see the bottom of the tires on the trailer which also lets me see the rear of the trailer.
It takes a little time to set them right the first time...after that they never need adjusting.

I absolutely LOVE my factory flip out mirror's. I swear it's the best thing in that truck and I got seat warmers.

If your going to keep your TV for quite some time I would go with a factory upgrade to thier "tow" mirror's whatever brand etc.

We all spend lots of money for power jacks, power levelers, power stablizers, and power slides ( I thought that was standard till I met this guy in a park this year that had a hybrid and he had to manually move his slide out and his was a 2008 model !!). So if we got all this stuff for quick setup. Why not get the mirror's you can just flip down when you unhook so you stop hitting mailboxes with them.

If hubby is "handy", the 88-98 GMT400 trucks can be made to use the most excellent 98-02 dodge flip out factory towing mirrors:

Requires a little redrilling of mouniting holes and the wiring plug (if you have power mirrors) will have to be changed, but it looks bloody near factory!

Ebay will get you a set pretty cheaply.

Can't beat those dodge mirrors...

I agree, factory towing mirrors are so much better. My previous TV was an Astro and I had a set of name brand "custom" mirrors that slid over the regular mirrors. I had to put wedges to hold them still and they were always a pain to install and take off. I found factory mirrors for my current TV on eBay and payed a fraction of the dealer price. They are much larger, more stable, adjustable from the inside and always there.

While I would like to take credit for it, that's not my truck.

Mine is a near copy except for the dodge mirrors which are waiting on a shelf in the garage......

i used some strap on extensions on my 92 ford. i wouldn't recommend them. my would shake at highway speed. in daytime, it wasn't much of a problem but at night, it made a little difficult picking out viehicles. i would be afraid of that happening with the clampons ur looking at as well. if u go that route, i would talk to someone that has used them day and night and see if they have any issues with them.
