Upgrades for our 3010DS Interior

Beautiful sunny day today, and temp got up to freezing so it was a great opportunity to putter in the motorhome. Trying to get ready for Lake Havasu in 4 weeks. The wife had been wanting a couple more things added for creature comfort. I mounted a small tray with DVD player in bedroom for her to watch movies when I listen to stereo out in the cabin.

Put in a removable ABS closet rod in the shower, for when she wants to hang wet things.

Bed, Bath, and Beyond has an awesome paper towel holder that doesn't spin out of control going down the road, and can be mounted anywhere. I added one in both the kitchen, and one in the bath. Added a hook below it to keep hangy things if we want

Got some attractive stainless steel peel and stick backsplash panels for behind the stove. They look better than the factory glass one, are easy to wipe grease off of after frying, and provide some heat protection too. About $10 each piece at Lowe's.

Took the pretty sink covers out, and replaced them with 1/2" teflon cutting board material. Just got them from restaurant supply, and cut to fit with jig saw. This way she can use the knife on either one and not scratch up the finished surface on the others. They are interchangeable, and I added a finger hole for easy of removing.

Here's a couple pics of the finished product.

They only carried about 4-5 in stock at both Lowes and Home Depot, but showed lots on line. The vinyl ones look cheap and are the most prevalent, but we worried about the heat in the corner. We use a stovetop coffee pot and also do a lot of pasta where the flame might be on for extended periods. The natural stone or tile ones were beautiful but would be hard to keep clean if you got grease splattered on them. This seemed to be the best solution for our use.

We previously owned a 2011 Georgetown that I installed the vinyl glass tile backsplash in (picutre on the top). Everyone who ever saw the inside of our coach commented on the natural look of the 'tiles' - the new owner loved them so much she installed them in her home kitchen. We now own a Rockwood Mini Lite and I have installed backsplashes in the kitchen and bathroom in our new home on wheels. Never had any problems with heat (always ran the exhaust fan) or any of the panels falling down and everyone is always shocked to learn they are vinyl because they look so much like real glass tile and the new look takes the camper motif to a new level

Added 12" wide shelves in the bedroom wardrobes, to give storage for dirty shoes and keep off the clothes. Cheap and easy $10 fix, and still has room if she wants to put taller stuff in front of it.

The factory mirror backsplash was a real pain.......always cleaning from water or cooking splashes.
Installed the plastic, but look like tin, panels shown here, from Home Depot.
Been on for 8 years.....no falling off or cooking damage.

I'm a real fan of one-piece fishing rods, especially for big trout and redfish in the Gulf. The problem with 7.5 - 8' rods is that they are unwieldy in the vehicle or motorhome, and the wife doesn't like them laying on the beds until we get where we are going. With the coach being 8.5' wide, I simply made some nice oak rod holders for the pass-thru today. I cut the holes 2" in diameter so that I could put the small pool noodles in them to protect the tips and guides. Easy peezy!!!
