Water Softener in line installation

I bought an ABC 16k grain water softener and plan to use it for both fresh water tank fill and city water. Our 2018 Columbus has the convenience center. Curious if anybody has dug into the convenience center plumbing and created a hookup for the softener after the water filter? My plan is to install the softener in the "basement" and only carry it out when winterizing the unit. I'll create my own valving for salt flushing. Thoughts or experience?

I just use the OTG 16K portable and it rides/stores in my rig. Take it out and hook up each time. Let's me use it in my 5ver for longer stays and my PUP for quick weekend trips. Also hook it up when filling my FW tanks if doing the boonies thing, then back to the basement.

Never really wanted to hook in-line permanent as it will follow me to my new 5ver in a couple of years.

Dano, appreciate the info. We get our new "5ver" Wednesday!! Can't wait!! I'll have a much better idea once I can "look under the hood" or the plumbing on the back of the convenience center. Just looking at the options as I'd like to leave the softener in the basement area and not carry out each time. If I dig in and make minor mods I'll certainly post pics. Thanks again!
