Weak antenna signal

Hi, what has everyone done to improve their antenna signal? Different booster? Different antenna? Install a second antenna? I'm not looking to have a satellite subscription. I'm only wanting to get a clearer signal for local channels while we're out. Thanks!

I use one of those flag poles you hang on your ladder and attached a small house type antenna and connect through the cable connection. Turn off the amplifier and scan the tv for antenna. Get about 3 times the stations then the rv type. I have an app on the phone that shows where most stations are and aim the antenna.

What is the name of the app? Is there an external booster that is used with the antenna you are using?

No booster needed. Just connect at the cable in location and use with the booster off then scan the tv for antenna channels. Winegard app for over the air and says app.

I bought the antenna at Wal-Mart and had the flag mount. Works great. Third try on antennas and this works much better then the 2 different rv antennas.

The only way to get a new booster is to get a new antenna because the booster (amplifier) is in the antenna. The so called booster panel only supplies the 12Vdc to the booster within the antenna.

Some members use an extendable painters pole with an antenna attached to their ladder. Height is the main problem with rv antennas.

Do you have the wingman on the sensar antenna? Can you measure battery voltage at the antenna connection on the roof?

The OP doesn't say what antenna he has now. If it's one of those round plastic jobs he be better off taking up reading. My new 2020 came with one of those round things and I made a flying saucer out of it. Installed a Winegard Sensar IV with the Sensar Pro Amp. I get all the channels I want even out in the sticks.

Unless you can get an antenna 20' or more up in the air reception is going to be limited to around 35 miles or so. And that assumes you don't have a mountain or big hill between you and the tower.

Dont discount the tv itself.
My original Toshiba had a buzz in the surround sound. It was replaced with a furrion, it never got the reception my bedroom tv got, after some swapping around of sets, I found a lg 32'' non smart tv, for a right price. Night and day difference in reception, number of channels and picture quality. My experience with Sensar IV has been positive. Found loose coax connection where wire passed through roof

True. The TV itself has a lot to do with reception. In my home, I have the TiVo box and the TV itself connected to the same kind of antennas. The TiVo antenna has the advantage of better placement (in a window, aimed at the local transmitters), yet the TV always gets a better signal.

Sometimes the signal being tuned by the TiVo is so bad that I forego the ability to pause and rewind live TV, switching from tuning on my TiVo to tuning on my TV. Clearly the TV has the better tuner.

Consider replacing the TV.
