Why is the shower hose connected on top?

All the trailers come from the factory with the shower hose poking out thetop between the handles. This means water will always collect in the shower hose valve when not in use. I experienced an early freeze crack in that valve and ended up replacing the unit. It was easy and cheap (about $20) so that was no big deal. I turned the unit uoside down (reversed the hot cold hoses of course) and now I can drop the shower head to the floor and totally drain. Seems like it should come that way from the factory.
