Never seen a tuba. But I did camp next to a guy that played French horn while sitting in front of the campfire.

When my youngest daughter started playing the flute the dogs would sing along.

School band is one of the most rewarding, character building, activities that any kid can take part of. I highly encourage every parent to nudge there kids in that direction if they show interest (but don't force them).

With that being said... Take it from me; DO NOT LET YOUR KIDS TAKE UP THE DRUMS. Unless you enjoy them absent minded drumming/tapping on ever flat surface 18 hours a day as much as you enjoy screaming "FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, JUST STOP!!!". My youngest is 25 years old, out of school for like 7 years, and STILL drives me bonkers if I am around him for more than 10 minutes with the taptaptappitytap thing. He literally doesn't even realize he is doing it (at least until my head explodes)

I just sit out in front of my camper with no shirt, a mullet wig and a beer.

I haven't seen an issue with it with my nephew who drums, but then again, I'm not with him every day.
