My need for April Fools Day jokes runs deep. The year after I graduated high school and moved out on my own, I moved about 150 miles from where I grew up. On April 1st, my mother called me panicked and said she thought she was having a heart attack. She described the symptoms amd all. She finally broke character when I told her I was conferencing in 911!

I’m pretty certain I went to a bathroom and cried.

And, I didn’t answer her calls on April 1 for a good 10 years.

So, my apologies that y’all have to deal with the collateral damage from my joke.
