Having learned from experience, referrals can be dangerous. One may think the shop is a good shop based on previous experience but if the person goes there when they're having a bad day, shop has changed ownership, or new mechanic is clueless, guess who they're going to eventually take it out on. Usually it's the person referring.

Most of our dealers would just suggest looking in the yellow pages or google for a shop that provides needed service they don't provide themselves. Besides, online listings usually come with reviews and the customer can blame them if not satisfied

The magic money mojo is still happening here. Had a lady come in wanting her tires aired up. She was saying all the coin op air compressors at 3 service stations near here had their air chucks missing off the end of the hoses. I told her it was $4 labor to do this. When we finished, she then says she has no money with her. I tell her we take debit/credit cards but it is a $5 minimum charge. She says she doesn't have a cc.

I asked her how was she going to use any of these coin op compressors if she didn't have any money with her. She didn't answer. I told her she needed to call someone to bring her some money and to park her vehicle. Guess what, this was when the magic happened, as she just so happened to find a $20 bill in her purse.

I guess her friend was Andrew Jackson.

I think she was even luckier. I noticed when she put her $16 back in her purse there was even more money in it. My magic money mojo was very good to her. Lol

You should put up a sign: “If you don’t have any money prices will double “

I think it would be more accurate "If you SAY you don't have any money prices will double".

That way when the magic money mojo occurs I can get twice as much. Lol

That should certainly make the coolant flow more smoothly and efficiently. Good for her, knowing not to use the heavier 10W-40.

Yep, there is just part of the rotor that is in the brake caliper. It is has been totally ground apart from the rotor hub itself. I'll type up the whole story later tonight.

I went to the library and asked the librarian where the self-help books were located. She replied, "Now that would be defeating the purpose, wouldn't it?"

I know some people that would just want it reversed on the wheel so they can wear down the other side where tread remains

Let me guess, they don't think there is an alignment issue and you're just trying to sell them something they don't need.

Same with referrals to a restaurant or doctor. I have scars from doing both. Also refuse to give referrals for insurance, lawyers, or brokers for the same reason although I have avoided scars. Also generally won't sell a used car to an acquaintance.

I don't know what I would do. I don't think I have ever had a tire close to looking like that. (That tire would have been gone long before it looked like that).
