While working do as the quarter backs do and have an arm band with plays and just wear at work then when done at work remove so you have your Do not remarry visible. Later RJD

I was going south on I-75 south of Dayton, OH about 75 yards behind a truck that had just passed me. Heard a tremendous "boom" and saw a cloud of dust smoke and what looked like the entire tread twisting out from under his trailer.



It landed in our lane, but with plenty of room for me to ease onto a particularly wide paved shoulder and get around it. He turned on his flashers and drove at almost 65 mph for almost ten miles to an exit. In the meantime several cars came up and tailgated him, while I hoped for their sake that he didn't blow another tire.



Got that done now. Unfortunately, the incident might have already been overwritten on the dash cam's SD card.

Okay! So now I am fully aware of the danger associated with following an 18 wheeler too close. Prior to now, and this post by Frog Bob, I often would follow an 18 wheeler as they normally go about the same speed I prefer, 60-65. No more. I will avoid that habit in the future.

Just fall back a ways if passed by a truck making a "fwap-fwap-fwap" noise from one of it's tires. Those are the ones getting ready to "hatch"a tire gator onto the highway.

Driver can't hear it as he's either too busy yakking on a 2-way or cell phone with other drivers. OR has his sound system turned up so loud it would make a rock concert seem quiet.

I saw the same thing happen one time on I-64 in VA Beach. The axles bounced along then turned toward the woods. The trailer was dragging along the interstate until the trucker could pull over.

Yeah, there was a moderately slow leaker on DW's old Yukon XL. It would go to an undriveable state in maybe 30 minutes. I thought about changing it, or taking the wheel off and toting it in the other SUV to our tire guy, around 30 minutes away. But then I decided to just air it up to 45 psi and drive the vehicle to the tire place.

Had that happen once, too. Drove to the tire guy (he's an independent like Bobby). His guy walked out to the car with a pair of pliers, pulled the sliver out. No leak, no charge.

Found a nail in front passenger tire yesterday on the way home. Took it in today, forgot to ask how long the nail was or what type of repair they did. Just handed over the $20 and headed back home.

My mom found WMTire culvert, here in West Texas, went down the wrong way on one way street. When she realized it floored her poo littl Dodge Dart over the median took out three tires possibly two rims guy thinks he can fix them. Car is 2013 with 130k plus that she has beat to death and never a problem. Hoping this wasn’t the nail in coffin.Attachment 1

Those are steel rims with plastic covers. Unless she warped the rim where it bolts to the hub, you can usually take a hammer and just beat the lips back out in place good enough. I do it all the time.

That’s what they told me, he a “ small” shade tree mechanic. Like 90% of his employees. I had his kid in class or them in in class.. when he opened about ten years ago, I could get in and out for little things pretty quick. He opened as a “Full “ service gas station. Not sure he sells gas now. I bet he has 100 vehicles or more on property every day

We just finished up a 2600+ mile trip. On the second to last leg we pulled into a campground in Lumberton, NC for an overnight stay. We got there early afternoon and decided to disconnect our jeep and drive into town. While driving I noticed a bad shimmy in the front wheels.

Thinking that I possibly knocked the jeep alignment out, possibly lost a wheel weight or worse, something broke. We wanted to be on the road the next morning by 9:00 AM, so I searched for the closest tire shop that opened the earliest which happened to be at 7:30 AM and only 6 miles away.

We got up in the morning and were parked in their lot by 6:50 AM. Even though most the workers showed up at 7:00 AM. We patiently waited inside our vehicle until 7:31 AM. I walked in and asked the gentleman at the counter if he was ready to open. When he said "Yes." I explained our situation. I asked to have the tires rotated and balanced, check wheel alignment, and inspect for worn or broken parts. He told me OK, he would get us in as soon as possible. We patiently waited on the chairs inside the waiting area.

The gentleman at the counter came up to us about 8:30 and said the technician was finished but wanted me to go out and talk to him about the work that was performed. After a brief talk, we went for a test drive together and I was completly satisfied. The front wheel was 2 ounces out of balance.

I paid my bill (In cash), thanked everyone for their help and was out the door by 8:45 AM.

I still can't help but thinking that I did something WRONG as a tire shop customer.
