Factually, I once bent a flat head screwdriver on purpose to allow carb. adjustment on a motorcycle .... allowing the adjustment without removing the air filter housing.

So you made one of these?

Wonder what the conversation was like when she got home?

It was the cities fault for building the curb so high and close to the street.

And how would you propose removing the trillions of wood screws attaching billions of objects all over the globe? And now we have Torx screws to contend with.
It never fails that whenever I want a Phillips screwdriver in my screwdriver bag, I reach in and always come out a flathead driver first, and vice-versa. It must be a truism.

I have nothing to add except a huge thank you to wmtire for reminding me of the importance of keeping my sense of humor when dealing with folks. I also have occasional "brain farts" but none as good as what I read here.

Too many types of screw head and in multiple sizes.
1. Slotted
2. Phillips
3. Hex head both internal and external
4. Torx head & Torx Plus
5. Roberts head
6. Pentagon head (rare)
7. Pozidrive
8. Quadrex
9. Tri-wing
10. Pin hole and several other 'tamper proof' styles
And a few I missed here:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_screw_drives
.

You have to keep your sense of humor, but it can be hard in some instances when dealing with John or Jane Q. Public.
Jane just scolded me, cause she had to wait in line, then for us to tell her that the spike (well nail that you use to join landscape timbers together) had went thru her sidewall in two places. Believe it or not it was still holding air though with nail still in place.
She crawled me pretty good that she wasted her time waiting on us to tell her that. I pointed out I didn't look at it till I got thru with everyone else, to see such.
She then matter of factly tells me she knew what was wrong with it had I bothered to ask her....and she could have told me.
I was a little perturbed now, that she really was wasting my time, but gave her the benefit of the doubt that she didn't realize that kind of damage was unrepairable.
That thought was quickly blown out of the water, when she added that all the other tire places had told her the same as I did, but she would find someone who knew what they were doing, and get it fixed.
I just stood there with that stupid look on my face, that I seem to have a lot....when it's a Monday at the tire shop.

Not exactly as have several of those, both flat and phillips of various sizes.
For the particular application, the bend had to be about 2.5" behind the screwdriver 'tip' in order to have adequate reach to the carb adjustment screw and clear the air cleaner housing.

When I met my late wife she was working at a large tire store as a receptionist/greeter/"people calmer downer".
She had a button she often wore on her uniform shirt on Friday's. It said " It's Been Monday All Week".

You need a sign behind the counter that says:
If they won't fix it.
We won't fix it.

I wouldn't go with a blanket statement like that. Maybe the other guy didn't know how and you do. If you do, why not make the money?
A better approach is "Yes, we can fix it. However there will be a charge based on the difficulty".
As for the tire with an non-repairable puncture, the repair is simply "A New Tire". Customer will decide and move on if they want to continue their quest for a cheaper solution.

Based on "Insanity" being defined as "Doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results", I guess she qualifies.

She’s an absolute, total pathological liar for sure. If she tells you it’s raining you should figure the sky is blue with no clouds. As to her head spinning, let’s just say the devil hides in fear when she’s around.

Here's an opposite side of the desk post .
Away from my normal tires shop who i see every spring and fall . New truck needs a rotation . The new chevy trucks have the tpms . a simple $10 relearn tool for relearning once rotated . i of course did not have the tool at the time . go to a local Firestone shop here in Fort Myers FL where i spend the winter set up a simple rotation and relearn of the tpms . made appointment a couple days in advance . show up at shop and wait and wait and wait . almost getting ready to head out when they bring my truck in . watching the tech do the work . he removes the front tire puts it on the back and the back on the front same side . I catch him and say that's not how you rotate tires . He sternly says it's their policy to do it that way per Firestone . I say no way jose . go talk to manager who comes out and i get my correct rotation . now there pulling truck out I say did you reset the TPMS well no that's another $29 bucks cause we have a special snap on relearn tool . I couldn't stop laughing at that point but spelled out for them the relearn tool is only $10 and i don't need their special snap on relearn tool. well long story shorter they did do the relearn and charged me nothing because I explained that's the only reason i brought it to them . i could do a rotate myself . there was no need to balance the tires . . So next day the relearn tool i ordered shows up go figure

Although it makes it easier, you don't actually have to have any tool on the GM/Chevy. Air them up to placard. Manually put the truck in tpms relearn mode(which can be different ways depending on year model and package). Some it's just holding down the unlock and lock button on the key fob at the same time, some have where you turn the parking lights on three times, some it's the odometer stem, some it's just holding down the reset button on the display of the tire pressures on the dash.
Then once in relearn mode start with the front left tire and start letting air out of the tire till horn chirps...go to right front and let air out till horn chirps, then to back right, let air out till horn chirp...then finally back left, letting air out till double horn chirp which finishes the process. You usually have around 90 seconds between tires to get the tpms to trip.
Air tires back up to placard and your good to go.
