I went one for four today on junk tires.
1. First customer had a tire so old it was coming apart. He wanting us to fix the two nails in it, but I showed him the dry rot and said it couldn't be repaired. he left and said he would find somewhere else.
2. Next one had a nail in sidewall. Told her it could not be repaired. She said she would find someone who could and left.
3. Another one had a screw right beside a patch, and the patch was beside a plug (about an inch between them). She managed to run over another screw between the patch and the plug. Told her we could not repair it and she told us to put the screw back in her tire and she would find someone to plug it.
4. This customer also had an old tire, that was coming apart. He is a good customer and he did buy two new tires to replace the pair on his back since the other one was just as old (14 years according to the DOT)
Not sure where 1-3 may have went after they left, but I hope they didn't go to two of my close by competitors. The reason I say this, is we had one customer come in yesterday wanting us to rotate his tires, but he had some versafit wheels (that fit two different lug patterns). One of my competitors mounted these wheels on his vehicle using the wrong lug holes, and now the studs were bent out. I told him he would have to get those repaired first, which he said he figured as much.
I passed by a second competitor today on my way to get lunch and saw one of his employees outside trying to ram a plug into the tire. (and it wasn't one of the above in my saga) As I sat at the redlight and watched more, the customer even walked over and helped the employee hold the tire, as he now started hammering the plug tool into the tire.

Hammering rubber plug into rubber tire with a rubber mallet.......
Wonder if it bounced back and smacked him in the head.

I envy you Bobby. I love my job, but you have way more interesting days than I ever will. I do deal with some crazy stuff from some the PhD's I have to deal with.

I am getting more than my fair share today. I lost my cool a bit, and will share the details when I get home later. He kept pushing till I got enough. Some of it had to do with armor all.

This sentence right here makes this a very slippery subject.

This one is scary. Guy comes in here wanting us to try and tighten down his lugnuts on a trailer. Told him I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole. Missing one, one on backwards, two have the stud spinning

The store across the road just put up a new sign yesterday
I don't know my Spanish well enough, but that seems to be a misprint

In a case like this, if the misspelling was contained in the art the customer provided, and it wasn't noticed until delivery, the customer would either have to go with what they got or pay for a new print.
A lot of times, they just go with it.
